PETE VASQUEZ, 55, SERVICES PLANNED
Pete J. Vasquez, 55, of rural Manzanola, died Saturday at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Rosary services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday and funeral service and mass will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Manzanola. Fr. John Farley will officiate. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery at Manzanola.
Mr. Vasquez was born Sept. 11, 1944, in Manzanola to Pete J. and Tula Lopez Vasquez. He graduated from Manzanola High School in 1962. For many years he was manager of The Yellow Freight Trucking Co. in Goodland, KS, working for them more than 20 years. He married Evelyn Watson Dec. 30, 1971, in Mattheson.
Family moved back to Manzanola from Goodland in 1999.
He is survived by his parents, Pete and Tula Vasquez, and his wife, Evelyn of Manzanola; sons, Brad (Louise) Watson of Denver and Brian (Lisa) Watson of Tulsa, OK; brother, Tino (Paula) Vasquez of San Diego, CA; sisters, Alice Vasquez and Esther Vasquez, both of Manzanola; three grandchildren, David, Jonathan and Diana Watson.
Mr. Vasquez was preceded in death by his brother, Izzy Vasquez in 1993.
Casket bearers will be Tino Vasquez, Ben Martinez, Tom Sisneros, Rod Watson, Wes Watson, Jim Shidler, John Mendez and Joe Cullyford. Honorary casket bearers will be Pete N. Vasquez, Don Monks, Dicky Lyons, Calvin Watson, Ronald Watson, and Christopher Vasquez.
