Dr. John A. Biles came to Bachelor CO before the 1900 Census, coming from Boonslick, Howard Co, MO, then to Malta Bend, Saline Co MO before heading for CO. The 1900 census here shows a wife of 12 years who had 7 children, 5 then living, none at that residence. His long widowed mother, Margaret E. age 76 lives in his home. Margaret E. was shown in Boonslick as widowed with sons William, John, and Owen in the 1860 MO Census.

By the 1910 census he is still in Mineral County, without wife or mother. By 1920 census is in Rio Grande County 67 yr old widow, occupation Physician & Surgeon.

Does anyone have any other information?

He may be directly related to my great great grandfather.

Thanks for any help.

Max

Dr John A Biles died 13 Jan 1923 of appendicitis. Born 26 April, 1852 in Boonesbro, MO. Unsure of the correct spelling of that town. The rest of the story... He had a wife at the time of death and 2 (daughter, Mary 1 yr old and son Harry)additional children. He married Lillie Bingle 9 Nov 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado.
Also, The story goes his other wife died in Denver on 6 Feb, 1915, yes 1915. She died of heart failure in front of the Shirley hotel, she is buried in the Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
Dr. Biles was elected to serve as a county offical and also did not collect on many of the outstanding debts that were owed to him for services.
Hope this helped.
Good Hunting,
Frank
