John Buxmann Jr., 80, of Loveland, died Aug. 27, 2001, in Loveland.
He was born June 6, 1921, in Fort Morgan, to John and Elizabeth Schwein Buxmann.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1940 and served in Europe from 1941 to 1942. He then served in the Asiatic-Pacific area, then to New Zealand, Hawaii, Marianas, and Solomon Islands. He participated in action against the Japanese on Saipan and during consolidation of the Solomons. He was discharged in 1946.
He married Donalda Buerkle on March 1, 1946, in Denver.
Mr. Buxmann worked at Loveland Insurance, Great Western Sugar, Bestway Paving and was a school bus driver for the Thompson School District, from which he retired.
He was a past governor of the Moose Lodge in Loveland. He was an avid camper and fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Buxmann is survived by his wife, Donalda Buxmann of Loveland; a son, Rory Buxmann and wife Judy of Loveland; a brother, George Buxmann of Jordan, Mich.; two sisters, Lydia Leikam of Fort Myers, Fla., and Esther Davis of Worland, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Taylor Buxmann, Tami Young, Shannon Buxmann, Brandon Buxmann and Curtis Raso, all of Loveland; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Barry John, on Feb. 26, 1956, three brothers, Henry, Robert and Walter Buxmann, and three sisters, Rose Stuggart, Tillie Brunner and Elsie Grosch.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
