William Sherman McCRACKEN, son of William Oury and Mary Jane McCRACKEN, was born Sept. 23rd, 1867 in Champaign Co., IL. and departed this life in Eads, CO on June 19th, 1939 being at time of death 71 yrs., 8 mos and 26 days.
He moved to Utica, MO with his parents when a small boy, where he grew to manhood. On Oct. 4th, 1891 at Evergreen Hill, MO, he was united in marriage to Cora Belle SIDERS and to this union five sons were born, Guy, Dee, Ralph, Ray and Lee. The wife and mother passed away a number of years ago and Dee in 1930
He moved to Eads, Kiowa Co., CO in Nov. 1912 with his five sons, homesteading wouthwest of Eads in the old Segragansett neighborhood and from here he conducted a real estate business for a number of yrs, finally moving to Eads for his permanent home.
He served as sheriff of Kiowa Co. for four yrs.
In Sept. 1922 he was united in marriage to Martha Wright.
He served on the school board of Eads District No. One for several yrs. and at the time of death was Justice of the Peace at Eads. He was always a loyal neighbor and friend, a kind husband and a dear Dad.
He leaves to mourn his departure four sons Guy, Ralph, Ray and Lee, all of Eads, his wife, Martha, 14 grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a host of friends and neighbors.
(Cora Bell (SIDERS) did not actually pass away until Nov. 1949, in MO and is burried in Coloma, Carroll Co., MO)
