Am seeking information regarding an old trading post/settlement that was located in Fremont County, near the present day town of Florence.

From what I understand it was known as Fort Leduc - also by several other names: Fort Maurice Ledoux, Buzzard's Roost, Maurice's Fort and Crow's Nest.

I have read that it was in existance from about 1839 to about 1849.

Does anyone have further information they could share regarding Maurice. Any information would be of tremendous help. thank you.

I am familiar with Fort Le Doux in Fremont County of Colorado. My family moved into the area in 1879 as the first Doctor in the area. My Grand Father located the original site of the Fort and surveyed it. What is your connection or questions?
