There is a record of a Martha Copeland that married a Arthur Hughes in El Paso County, CO in August/1896.
Maybe if you came up w/some federal census info as to where she was born. Where her parents were born?
Then the field could be narrowed down some.

I'm trying to find out for information on my great great Grandmother Martha. Form what I know she was married twice, first to an Arthur W Hughes (1875-1905). They had two daughters, Amanda (Craig) and Opal (Haden). After Arthur died she married John Gardiner and had one son with him, George.

I've always been told her maiden name was Copeland and she lived most of her life in El Paso County but I've never been able to find anything on her before her marriage to Arthur.

I don't have an obit. but I have a death ccertificate. He would have been burried in Lynch or Colson Cemetery, Which is now Middlesboro Cemetery. I'm working on getting records from a friend of mine who now owns the cemetery.

Whatever material I compiled is available through both Ancestry.com and Rootsweb.com under the data bases of Descendants of Fountain J. Huffman. I was fortunate enough to secure select information from an interested researcher in Colorado, and for my compilation I used what she provided me with. I really don't have any separate biography for MacNeill. I hope you'll find what you're searching for.

Thank you so much for the obituaries! They have helped me confirm that this is the family I am looking for. I am surprised to learn that the brothers, Henry and Michael were also in Colorado. I will have to do more research to see if they also died in Colorado. Thank you again. These obits help put some dates to events I was only roughly aware of previously (some of the marriages dates and places, for example). Were these obits available to you online?

Thank you very much for the link to the obituary search. I think the reason you couldn't find them was that they lived in Nebraska for some time before moving to Colorado Springs. I just don't have many specifics as of yet. Your suggestions are helpful to me in finding more details.

Rosary services for Mrs. Anna Grass, 66, Colorado Springs years, who died at her home, 1115 N. Custer Ave., Monday morning, will be held at the Nolan drawing room at 7:30 o'clock tonight.
Requiem high mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Marys church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Grass was born in St. Louis, Mo., October 13, 1872, and was married in East St. Louis in 1902. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic church and of the Altar society, third order of St. Francis.
Surviving are her husband, Henry W. Grass; one son, Matt Grass, and one daughter, Marie Grass of Colorado Springs; a sister, Mrs. B. Goedee of Belleville, Ill., and a brother Charles Meyer of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The funeral of Mathias Grass, 87, who died early yesterday morning at the home of his son, 1115 North Custer avenue, will be held at St. Marys Catholic church at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning, with Fr. Raber in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, by the side of his wife, who died in Lincoln, Neb., three years ago. Rosary will be recited at the residence at 8 o'clock tonight by the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name society.
Mrs. Grass is survived by three sons, Michael F. Grass of Denver and J.L. and H.W. Grass of Colorado Springs.

Lawrence J. Grass
Dies at Age of 89

Lawrence J. Grass, 1019 N. Wahsatch Ave., died Sunday at a local hospital, at the age of 89. He had been a resident of the Colorado Springs since 1907 and for many years had been with the Crissey-Fowler Lumber Co. and with the El Paso Ice Co.
Mr. Grass was born at Madison, Wis. May 17, 1870. He was well known for his remarkable memory of important local happenings and events of worldwide interest. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Agnes Grass, died in 1948. He is survived by a brother H.W. Grass, of Colorado Springs.
Rosary services will be help at 7:30 o'clock tonight at the Law Drawing Room. A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Divine Redeemer. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

I have a Grass family I've been trying to prove moved to, and died in, El Paso County. I have found some people listed in Evergreen Cemetery on Findagrave.com matching some key names and dates that I am looking for, but I need to prove they are actually who I am looking for. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated. The people buried there are:

Mathias Grass 1839-1926
Kathryn Grass 1842- 1923 (believe wife of Mathias)
Laurence J. Grass 1870-1960
Sarah Agnes Grass 1871-1948 (believe maiden name is Monroe, married Laurence)
Anna M. Grass 1872-1939

I THINK I know who these people are, but I am unfamiliar with Colorado records and need some help. I need help acquiring obituaries or death records - or anything, really, that lists parents' names on the record.

Hello I am helping my 90 year old friend find and document his family. I have recently found is grandfather, grandmother and aunt all buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado the lot number is T 160 the names are as follows with dates I was able to locate.
