CA divorce records have to be researched at the county level. The state has an index but it doesn't start until 1966 and ends in 1984.
Same with marriages, the CA marriage index starts in 1949 and ends in 1986. All marriages outside these dates must be researched at the county level at the Recorder's office.
Divorce records are court records and must be obtained from the appropriate court. Here in Stanislaus County records are filed with the Superior Court.
Quickie divorces could be obtained in Reno NV.....as could marriages without a blood test.
Both Sacramento and Alameda county residents might have gone to Reno for marriage and divorce. It's really not that far to drive.
