I am looking for family or information on a Lester John Barber who has a CA Death Certificate dod 11/10/1959 in San Joaquin, CA. Lester's father was Oscar S. Barber & Mother Lucinda Whetsel. All were from Peoria Co, Illinois. Lester was born 12/30/1892.
Lester's, WWI Draft Regestration in Chicago, IL 1917, says that he had a wife & child.He was in Nevada, Story Co, IA when his father died in 1933 & somehow made to CA when he died in 1959. The fellow got around.

Moore Jones, Edwin A Jones Born Feb. 4 1872 in Illinois, was in Clements Ca. in at least 1890 where I have letters of Guardianship for Robert C and Edwin A Jones dated Sept 26th 1890. I would like to find when and where Edwin A. Jones died it was before 1912. His mother was Carrie(Caroline Moore) Van Vranken. Am looking for an obit for Annie Flaherty who died December 4, 1868 in Stockton. She had been a patient at an asylum in Stockton. Not sure if it was an asylum for physically ill or mentally ill persons. the death notice is signed by John F. Cassidy, Assistant Pastor of Stockton. She was buried on 9th December 1868 in the Catholic Cemetery of Stockton.

I'm trying to track down information on a Giovanni N. Milco family (also went by GN Milco) who lived in Stockton, CA in the 1870's and 1880's. I have found that he died at 39 in April of 1886, but havent been able to find out exactly when, where or why. He was married to a Josephine Laumeister, and had several daughters, and I'm specifically looking for information on his daughter Edna F. Milco, who later became Edna F. Fry and lived in San Jose, CA.

Hieb winery in Lodi

Wilhelm “Columbus” Hieb settled in Lodi in 1895, after buying 30 acres (a mile south of Lodi) and planting Zinfandel and Mission grapes.

I understand that the Hieb vineyard was one of the first commercial wineries in the Lodi region. Does anyone any idea if that winery still exists, or if there is a photograph of the family’s wine label?

Jacob/Jacobs family of Stockton and O'Neal California

Looking for any and all info on George St.Clair Jacob,his wife Helene(Kelley)Jacob and their 11 children. Have notices sometimes the last name was spelled with an "s" added to Jacob---Jacobs.

I specifically am looking to locate a death date for Helene Jacob. She died after 1917 but before 1920 census.

I am also having a hard time locating their sons Stanley, Charles and Grant and daughter Florence in the 1920 census.

Have located their other children Lillian,Agnes and Helene in an orphanage in Stockton in 1920.

Would like to know who the birth father of Lillian Jacob's daughter Ruth is? In the 1930 census in O'Neal Lillian is living at home w/her dad George and daughter Ruth age 6(born abt 1924). Says she is widowed but both are using the last name Jacob not her deceased hubby's last name.

I know Lillian later married a Mr.Saddington. Possible first name of Charles? Would like to verify as these 2 were in an orphanage together in 1920.

Any help with this family is greatly appreciated.

In 1920 she is listed in the census of Spokane, WA as a teacher of typing for a business school. She never married and lived with her parents through 1920. What happened that she wound up in the Asylum for the Insane? Anyone know anything?

I am told that Daniel Bittner died in 1937. In the 1930 census he was at Elkhorn, San Joaquin, California.
He was born about 1864 in South Russia. His wife was Eva
Seiler 1868-1932. His second wife was Signi Krol.
Daniel was a minister. He lived in ND up to his move to
California between 1920-1930. From the census, I have the
names of some of his children: Anna Maria, Ida, Wallis,
Amanda, Newton, Roxanne and Iaine or Jorene.
I am hoping an obituary might tell me more about the children. And get full facts of birth and death.

I am trying to help a friend find info on her grandfather, Paul or Poul Nielsen, was born in Jylland Denmark. The info she had was that he was born on May 27, 1846, but according to his age when he emigrated to USA, his birth year would be 1849. Paul was shown as 40, his wife Jensine 26 and baby Niels was 11 months when they emigrated to USA in 1889. We do not know when he married Jensine Marie Jensen, but that would be in Denmark.
After they arrived in the US, when lived in Tyler, Mn for a few years, where a second son, Peter Christian, was born in 1890. They moved to the Hettering, ND area about 1896 where they filed on a homestead. Six or seven children were born in ND. Jensine Nielsen died in 1915 at the age of 49 years. This is about all the info they have, but would like more. They are having a Nielsen family reunion in June 2007, so we're hopeing someone can help .

Here is the only information I have about them (other than what I have about the rest of the family, i.e., their parents were Downing Lamb and Elizabeth Maxwell; my ancestor is Thomas Jefferson Lamb, the 2nd of 8 known children):

James Monroe Lamb was born 19 Feb 1835 in Logan, KY, married Savina Jane Pearce on 17 Dec 1856 somewhere in CA, and died 5 Mar 1898 in Lodi, San Joaquin Co., CA. Is he also buried in Lodi Cemetery like his sister Nancy?

Nancy Margaret Lamb was born 8 Jan 1843 in Howard Co., MO, married John Robert Ware on 2 Feb 1860, and died 12 Oct 1916 in Lodi, San Joaquin Co., CA. [Note: My still-living grandmother, Helene Ruth Lamb, is Nancy's grand niece (or is it great niece??), and was born in Santa Rosa, CA, just 5 days after her death!]

The source of this information was the IGI which I accessed online at FamilySearch.org recently. I am very interested in contacting the submitters that seemed to know the most about Nancy, namely, a Linda Louise Lewis-Gibson of Cameron Park, CA (her submission was on Disc. 39), and a Paul Ware of San Rafael, CA (on Disc 7). I am looking for a family that moved there about 1870. Rev. Joseph McCREERY was a Circuit riding preacher and his son on law McKendrea Bishop was a Dentist. Looking for ANY information on them.
Was there a Methodist Church or cemetery in the area? I am trying to find info on Josephs wife Sidney Barnes McCrary/McCREERY who died before the 1870 census? Unless she was commeted to somewhere? She is not in the census with them in 1870. Can any one find the family in the 1880 census records for the county? Did Oneal Twp. have cicuit riders?

Samuel LUCKEY Both Joseph McCREERY SR. and Samuel LUCKEY were likley born in Orange County NY and they lived in Fulton County, NY, at some point between, 1820-1830 and and ministered to Broadalbin among other areas in their career. In the 1820 census it lists a Joseph then living in Seneca, NY. In the 1830 Census for Montgomery County it lists a Rev. JOSEPH McCREERY in Johnstown, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, NY and is mentioned in the History of Montgomery/Fulton County in the town of Glen and Broadalbin. Joseph SR. probably had more children than just Joseph JR. Possibly the McCeerys that were still there in the 1850 census index are likley also from this family descendents of John Jacob or Joseph McCREEY. Additional another probabability is John Luckey McCREERY b.December 1835 New York d. in Washington DC. 1906 (He was a "famous"? Journalist, Stenographer.

Joseph MCCREERY JR. born 8 APR 1814 in the Fingerlakes region in (Newton?) Brutus, Cayuga Co., New York d. 2 DEC 1892 in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Joseph was of a M. E. family, He was also the nephew of(REV.) Dr. Samuel

REV. Joseph McCREERY JR. One of Wesley University first students. He graduated from Wesley University in Middletown, Conn. which was founded in 1831. He was probably in Monroe by 1840. Was a celebrated, excentric and well known Methodist Minister. His expulsion and that of Mr. Roberts of the Methodist Church lead to the formation of the the Free Methodist Church. After "the 5 year, much to do", Joseph was reinstated on probation to the M.E. Church, and was accepted back in Spencerport, NY 1860. After the conference and being reinstated sometime around 1862 he went west, pioneering the frontier, soon after living in the State of Illinois and California. Dec 2, 1892 11:30 p.m. Joseph McCreey, a widow, died of paralysis of the brain at the home of his son William at 364 Washburn street, Dec. 2 aged 79 years. He married Sidney BARNES b: 15 APR 1819, died before 1870. New Jersey, she was the dau. Of John BARNES (J.B. prob. b. MASS. Sidney prob. sister of Rox BARNES MCCRARY) likely lived in the Mohawk Valley area of New York, possibly in Orange, Montgomery or Fulton County. Sidney probably died before 1870 as Rev. Dagmar is my Aunt, and is in an elderly assisted living home, and would like to know more about her relatives. Kizziah Peterson Brown died in August 1901 in, we believe Merced County, CA. We do not know what day. She was buried in the Stockton Rural Cemetery the 13th of Aug 1901.
Is there old newspapers in Stockton which might have an Obit for her? Her daughter Sarah Brown Hunsucker and a couple of Kizziah's sons also lived in Stockton at that time. The Merced County newspapers were already checked. From 1852 until 1900 Kizziah Brown lived in Castoria or Collegeville, San Joaquin Co., CA. 1948 Quarry Accident

I am seeking information about a Quarry Accident that happened Nov. 1, 1948, The victom, 24 year old Harvey N. Hammond was crushed under a piece of machienery. I beleive that this was some sort of a highway project in Tracy. I would like to get any newspaper articles or an Obit. for him if any one can help or give me a push in the right direction. I am hoping to find information about my Great Grandmother, Orpha (Hall) Lyons, Elkins, Ernst, b-1855 in MI. I located Orpha in the 1930 Census in Manteca, CA but I have not been able to locate any further information about her. How can I find out if she remarried or died after 1930? I am looking for information on my grandfather's brother, Jesse Rutherford Gibbens born October 27, 1876 in Clay County, Indiana died February 16, 1954 at 10:35 pm at the San Joaqin General Hospital, Stockton, San Joaquin County, Ca. His last known address was 621 E Hazelton Ave., Stockton, Ca.
Jesse left Indiana in about 1907 and made only one contact with his family untill 1953 when he showed up at the home of his niece in Stockton. He had no money and was very ill. He would not answer any questions about his life except to say he had been in California, had never married and had no children. I can't even find a SSN for Jesse, we suspect that he may have spent time in prison.
Any assistance or suggestions regarding information on Jesse Rutherford Gibbens would certainly be appreciated.

Looking for info on Lula Mae Boone who married unknown Royce. She died in San Joaquin 11/1/1986. She was born in OK 9/30/1905 and lived with her parents in Redonda Beach, CA from approx 1906 on. She was 14 on the 1920 Redonda Beach census with her parents. I did a lookup for the 1930 San Joaquin census, but no Royce family showed.

Charles S. Bulkley, wife Abby, sons Charles and Howard

I am seeking more details about Charles S. Bulkley who was in charge of the attempt to connect North America and Europe by way of a telegraph line through Alaska and across the Bearing Strait. There is a lot of information, mostly journals and correspondence about the project, but the man himself is a puzzle. He married Julia Palmer in Massachusetts sometime after 1860 and the had a son also named Charles. Sometime after 1870 he married Abby Dexter who was from Massachusetts and resided with her family in Stockton. They appear in both the 1870 and 1880 census. Young Charles is listed as being 11 years old and born in California. This predates the apparent marriage of Abby and the elder Charles so I suspect that the age and birthplace are incorrect and he is actually Julia's child born about 1865. He died in 1892 and his father died in Guatemala in 1894. There are a few records for Howard Bulkley residing in San Francisco in 1900 and 1910. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
