Luman Fowler, Consumnes River, El Dorado 1850

Trying to learn about other possible sources for genealogical research concerning the mining camps in the 1850s...Luman A Fowler was established in Crown Point, Indiana, but left to try his hand at mining in 1850. The 1850 Fed Census shows him 'on the Consumnes River', El Dorado County, CA, enumerated 1 Oct 1850. (although he does also show up in the 1850 Crown Point census record enumerated 15 August 1850, I presume he simply was listed by the family). He returned to Indiana by the late 1850s.

Can anyone suggest where there might be any records demonstrating activities while he was in CA?

Any help appreciated...

He is my Great Grandfather and brother to John B. Taylor. I'd love to learn and share what I've gathered.

12/26/2010 Was just out to the Matthew Kilgore Cemetery. Doing some research for the family tree. John B. Taylor would be my great great great grandfather on my father's side. His son-in-law was Charles Studarus who is also buried there but not listed because the headstones were never placed in the cemetery. Charles Studarus was my father's great grandfather. Have more info on some of the other names you mentioned back home in NY.

I am currently developing some research that may shed some light on the accuracy of his work. I need original sources as opposed to the internet lists that are available.
Hi, Jon.

I found some things you might be interested in seeing. I'm going to try to scan them today and get them to you. Would it make sense to email them to you as an attachment? My email address is linbenedek@yahoo.com, if it's easier to contact me directly. I will try to post them here as well but am not sure how that's done. Just let me know. I have a few documents and a copy of the article about Ole. The documents are not great xerox copies so I'm not sure how well they will scan. They were given to me in 1986 by Cousin Ted, Tom's son, Ole's grandson, up on Silver Mtn. There's a letter in Norwegian from the priest attesting to Ole's good character. There's one signed by Ole and the heading at the top reads Fogden i Nordhordlangs og Vos Fogderie. I'm going to need to learn some Norwegian. I'm impressed that you know some. There's a section describing him, I think, if Oine and Haar mean eyes and hair??? And there's a letter from a guide whom Ted and Peg met in Norway sharing what she'd learned about Ole. She thought that Ole's twin was a boy. She writes:

"Your relation Ole Nelson who emigrated in 1857 to the USA was a twin--his brother named Guro--born 27 April 1834. The twins were baptised in Voss. Parents Nils Gundersen Grimastad and Magli Mikkelsdtr., who lived on Opkvitne at that time. The twins were confirmed 30 september 1849 (the priest noticed that they had good knowledge and were good at wrighting). The parents lived in 1849 on the farm Mossefinn and they also used this name. Niels and Magli were smallholders and lived the place Nedre Molen under Mossefinn till they died-- Magli in 1867 and Niels in the year 1875."

Two other things. Ole's name in the docs has the third name as Utqvitne. And the article says they were born in Bullken, Norway. Does that make sense?

I read Guro's obit and was touched to read about her. She sounds like a wonderful woman. I noticed in the census records that she went by the name Julia Nelson. Did she change her name when she got to the US?

More soon.

Lin

Lin,
I first learned that Guro had a twin brother in California from her obituary, which is included in my family tree. It does not give a name for him, but through the Digital Archivit, Stephanie Benoit (also of California) found them from their birth date. That showed that Niel and Magdalie were their parents. Then she answered another post of mine when I was looking for Ole's last name in the US. She had found him in census reports. When I learned who their parents were I went back to my Vinsand book and there they were all along, but nothing further than their names. It was an exciting day.
So this whole search started when my aunt Muriel brought me Guro's obit. about a year ago.
Now I use the Digital Archivit as well as the farm histories from the Vossaboki website. Mossafinn is farm number 240, but it is in Norwegian. I can read a little bit of it or at least figure it out.
More later. Good luck connecting with cousins, maybe you will find another genealogist in the family.

Jon

Hi, Jon. I just wrote a rather long message and it disappeared. I may have pressed Add New Thread instead of Reply. Oh, well. I'll try to reconstruct it here. It's great that you know Yosemite. It was such an important place in the life of Edmund and all of us. Yes, it is a shame that the family lost track of itself. I can't believe I didn't know that Ole's sisters had also come to America. When did you first learn about Ole and the California connection? While my grandfather was alive all of his sons and families got together on Christmas Eve but after he died that stopped, sadly. I'm going to get in touch with my California cousins, whom I haven't seen in years, with the exception of Uncle Bill's son, Bill. The last time I saw my great uncle Tom's son Ted and his family was up on Silver Mountain in 1986. I have a genealogy question. When you look for records from Norway do you go to the Voss website or the Norwegian Heritage one? I stumbled upon those early last week but don't know if that's the way to go. And what about finding ship passenger info? Is there a better one for that?

More soon.

Lin

Lin,
What a great post! They must have lived quite a life there in the Sierras. It brought back alot of memories for me as I lived in Fresno from 1986-1990 and went to Yosemite several times during that period. I loved it up there and have many nice photos from my trips. I took my parents there as well as friends and relatives that came to visit me in California. It's too bad we didn't know eachother then. I never thought of having any family (distant or otherwise) in that part of the country.
More to you later.
Jon

Hi, Jon.
You know the only date I have is for Edmund: May 5, 1964. He was an absolutely wonderful person. And so was my great uncle Tom, his brother. Uncle Tom had a cabin near the mine that Ole acquired on Silver Mountain. I never got to meet the other ones but Ed used to talk about them and about his little sister Lena who had died when she was only seven. The story was that she had Scarlet Fever. Ellen went into the forest to search for an herb that was used in Norway to cure it but that plant doesn't grow in California. He also told a story about Ellen protecting her children from a charging ram by picking it up by the horns and tossing him on his back. I wish we had written down all of his stories. He had a rustic cabin which he built with his four sons about 1930 in Yosemite, where we'd go every summer. He was a real mountain man. Also a lawyer. I'll try to get some more of those dates. I, too, am so glad to have made the connection.
More soon. Lin

Lin,
I can't take credit for the early information in my tree. Most of what I have came from a book called "The Andrew K. Vinsand Family in America" written (or compiled) by Charles Chantland and Ruth Johnson in 1984. My mother and I both bought a copy back then and although I was interested in it I never thought about doing anything more until the last few years. It would have been good to start asking questions when there were still people around to answer them. That always seems to be the case. I have very little documentation, but I do spend alot of time in the Digital Archives of Norway where the information is endless. You may want to do some searching there, as well. My entire family history is Norwegian so, at least, that helps to understand the people better, the name changes and family connections, etc.
I will be in touch. I'm so glad that you found my tree, it is a constant work in progress.
Jon

Good News! I was able to view your tree. I am so happy that you've traced it back some more generations. The double cousin phenomenon is very interesting. I know that on my mom's side of the family (English and Irish mostly) we have our share of cousin marriages. And who knows? Maybe further back on the Norwegian side as well. I would love to see the photographs some day that you have access to. I don't know how to post non-Ancestry.com documents yet but I'll have my husband teach me. Do you know of any letters from Norway? Or other family documents? I have a copy of a letter vouching for Ole's good character that came from parish records. And some form that was submitted somewhere when he came to America. And that's about it. I'm going to contact some of my cousins here and see if there's anything else. Thank you so much for all of your good work on this and for generously sharing it. One of my favorite discoveries in your tree was the way they chose names for the twins-- from Niels's mom's name. I'm learning some things about Norway that I never knew. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Lin

Lin, have you started a family tree on Ancestry.com yet? If you have, you can go down the right side of the page and click on people that are looking for the same person, then you can access their tree that way. If not, you may go to Family Trees and try to find the Paulson Family Tree that way. I guess I will think on this a bit longer and try to find another way for you to connect with my tree. I will work on this and get back to you, but if you start a tree you will certainly find mine. I will keep in touch!
I have a photo of a drawing of Guro that was taken many years ago. I don't know who has it now, but I will post it on my tree in time. I do not have a photo of Ole.
I do have Ole and Guro's parents (and you are correct, they are Niel and Magdelie) and the history on them is on my tree. Ole and Guro's sister was Brithe and she lived in Iowa which is why we had relatives there. I will go into this more when I have time, but I have alot of double cousins as a result of this union. Shirley Vinsand said that is why the family has bad eyesight. You probably have good eyes as you are not affected by the same connections as we are here in the midwest. I am kidding because I don't know if that really had any affect on anyone. I don't think it did here in Wisconsin, but they sure thought so in Iowa. I will wait to see if you can access my tree.
Thanks for writing back, as I said, I will make any info you want available to you.

Jon

Hi, Jon. It was great to hear from you. I'm not sure how to access your Paulson family tree. Any advice you could share? And I'd be more than happy to share what info I have. Some years ago there was an article in a magazine called True West featuring Ole and his dream of gold mining. I will get help from my husband in scanning and posting that. Do you have any family photographs on your tree? I have never seen one of Ole. Are there any of the twins? I called my sister and my brothers to tell them I had found a long lost cousin and they were very happy to hear it. Do you know anything about the parents of Niels or Magdeli? And I am so curious to know about the startling connections you have discovered. Look forward to hearing from you.

Lin Nelson Benedek

Hi Linda, it's great to hear from you and to know that I have the correct family in my tree. A woman in California found some of the info for me and she has come to my aid more than once which I am always thankful for. I know Shirley Vinsand and went to see her down in Iowa in 2007. We met her brothers and some family members and we also visited with some of the distant cousins that I knew when I was young. There was more interest in staying in touch back then and my mother was responsible for us getting to know everyone. We live in Wisconsin so the trip isn't far for a visit and I hope to go back this summer.
I would love to see any info that you have and also ask you to visit my "Paulson Family Tree" if you are able to access it. Your grandfather, Edmund, is included in it, but of course I don't have alot of dates unless they are in the census reports. If you can't get into my tree, please let me know and I will provide you with any info I can. If you can bring it up you will see there is alot to look at with some startling relationships which I came across in the last year.
Thanks so much for writing and please stay in touch.

Jon

Hi, Jon. My great-grandfather was Ole Nelson, also known as Ole Nielssen Mossefin! I just started looking into the genealogy about a month ago and until yesterday I had no idea that other children from that family had come to the United States from Norway. I'm pretty sure that Ole and Juro's parents were Niels Gunderson Mossefin and Magli Mikkelsdatter. I stumbled upon some posts just yesterday from 1998 and was glad to happen upon yours here today. The post from 98 by Shirley Vinsand was the first I'd heard about all of the other children in the family besides the twins. I do have a few records about Ole which I will be glad to share. Ole married Ellen Edmunds of Norway and had 6 surviving children. The eldest was my grandfather, Edmund, and he had 4 surviving children, the youngest of whom was my dad. The 4 sons had 8, 3, 6 and 4 kids respectively and we of that generation have gone on to have children (and 2 of my siblings already have grandchildren) of our own. For the most part we are in California. Ole did come out to California during the Gold Rush. And he did eventually acquire a mine. But it was never productive and he ended up farming like his father before him. Ole's kids were all born in the Sierras in Northern California. Look forward to hearing more about the family.

My GGGrandmother was Guro Kolve. She married Gulick Kolve in Dane County, Wisconsin in the 1860's. She died in 1912 and her obit. said that she was born in Norway in Apr. 1834 and that she had a twin brother living in Oakland, California. He may have been named Ole Nelson or Ole Nielson Mossefin. I would like to know for sure who their parents were and more about them. Thanks. Jon

I found out he died 27 Oct 1958 in El Dorado, CA.

I talked to Lester's daughter and she visited him about a year before he died and didn't even know it was him. They were at his beer bar and he charged them for lunch.

She had just graduated from High School. I've only talked to her once and she was going to edit the familys part of the history I have. Thats been 2 years ago. Haven't heard from her since.

Bud

Hi Bud:

I did visit the El Dorado County Museum research room last week before we left town. In spite of the kind help of the volunteers there, no postive mention could be found of Arthur/Otto Peterson or his wife Cruzita. There were some records for an Arthur Petersen on the county clerk's website:
http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/countyclerk/index.html

Follow the link and search "recorder's index by name" to view the records. When we are back in town, I will be glad to look at NewspaperArchive, also. The Mountain Democrat has been around a long time, but archive searches now require a fee.

One thing that made searching difficult was not know which area between the county line and Placervile that the beer parlor was located----east, west, the town of Lotus or Latrobe in the other direction? Do you have any more info that would give that detail?

I also wondered if the state liquor licensing agency keep records back that far.

Shanna

Travel time depends on which route was taken naturaly. A book I have (The World Rushed In, by JS Holliday) gives a travel time of 270 days using Lassen's Cut-off. The other Route's overland were Truckee Trail, and Carson Trail. These were shorter than the Lassen. Then there was the Ithumas of Panama, and around the Horn. You could also go the southern route and come out in Southern California.

With both being in October it would have been impossible.

Good Hunting

Bud

Thanks for the help. I am not still convinced that the two James Kimsey's are the same. The Ca census was 9th of Oct
the MO census was 29th of Oct. James is listed in Big Creek, Henry county, Mo. as are an Alexander and an Alfred.
The same three names are listed on that 1850 Ca census.
I know nothing about travel times during that time period.Do you think that they could have made it back to Mo in that 20 day time frame. The ages match up pretty well for them. Will try to get to the LDS history center to compare the census they have. Thanks again...Carolyn

Hi,
I counted the number on the Cosumnes by looking at every page that was headed Cosumnes River Sacramento County. I have not heard from Shannon Steed anymore as you can see on the board.

I can't remember how many names there were.
For some reason Ancestry don't have the family I am interested in, in their 1850 census info. I found them on the microfilm at the LDS Research Center here in Sacramento on Eastern Ave. I'm pretty sure I found them in the State Library on there Microfilm.

Its possible to be on 2 census in 2 states depending on when the census was taken. Check the dates and then figure the travel time. On the other hand the California census didn't start till September I believe as they weren't admitted to the union till then and word of it didn't reach California till October. They did get a jump on it though.

I don't know of any other listing or why there would be one. Compare Ancestry census and LDS Census records.

Bud Compton

Michigan Bar 49er Thomas McCartney 1809-1861 biography

Here's what I've been able to piece together on 1860 Michigan Bar 49er Thomas McCartney. Thomas was the brother of my gg grandfather Nathaniel McCartney. After the 1860 census, I find no record of Thomas, his son, his daughters, his son-in-law or his granddaughter. If anyone has further information on them I'd love to receive it.
jm

Thomas McCartney 1809-1861 biography

Thomas McCartney was born about 1809 in Ohio, probably in Springfield, Clark County. He was one of 12 children of judge, farmer, miller and land speculator William C. McCartney and his wife Margery.
On 2 Apr 1811, William McCartney, Sr., a miller, is elected as an Overseer of the Poor for the Springfield, Ohio, area. And in 1814, William was the largest donor toward the building of a 40x30' meeting house for the Methodist Episcopal Church in Springfield, Clark, Ohio.
In the 1830 census, the William C. McCartney family lives in Union, Logan, Ohio, near West Liberty, where William McCartney is again a miller.
On 23 May 1830, Thomas McCartney married Christena Newell in Logan Co., Ohio. They were married by Jeremiah Fuson. Christena, born about 1811 in Ohio, was likely the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Shields) Newell of Logan Co., Ohio.
Shortly after his marriage, Thomas moved with his parents and most of his siblings to the South Bend, St. Joseph, Ind., area where all of his known children were born.
Thomas’ son William W. McCartney was born in Indiana about 1831. His daughter Amanda M. McCartney was born there about 1835 and his daughter Josephine A. McCartney was born there about 1838. In 1840, the Thomas McCartney family lived in LaPorte County, Ind. The family owned land in LaPorte, Elkhart and St. Joseph counties.
On 13 Jan 1845, Thomas McCartney, his father William C. McCartney and his brother in law Elisha Egbert were among the incorporators of the Philadelphia Industrial Association in South Bend. This was a socialist collective, inspired by Francois Marie Charles Fourier, which sought to improve society through education and collective labor. The association, which was based on William C. McCartney’s land, failed.
In late February or early March of 1849, it appears that Thomas left South Bend for the California gold fields with his brothers James and Benjamin. Indications are that James returned to South Bend fairly quickly and resumed farming. Benjamin seems to have done well in California and apparently returned to South Bend in late 1852 or early 1853, after the death of their father on 30 Jul 1852.
On the census of 10 Sep 1850, Thomas’ wife and three children live in German township, St. Joseph, Ind., just north of South Bend. While it was reported by the census that Thomas was in the household. It seems likely he was actually in California. Also listed in his household were Lewis Barr, age 19, born in Pennsylvania and Wm. H. Ward , age 22, born in Ohio. These men are both listed as farmers and are likely farm hands left to fill in for Thomas.
On 18 Nov 1850, Thomas appears on the census in Placerville and Vicinity, El Dorado, Calif., listed as a miner for gold with a reported real estate holding of $8,000.
In his will, signed on 9 Feb 1851, Thomas’ father William C McCartney left him $1,500 as a credit against Thomas’ debt to his father of $2,000. Thomas’ note to his father was due & payable on 1 Mar 1854.
On 12 May 1852, Thomas was living near Sacramento, Calif., when he gave a Power of Attorney to William Miller of St. Joseph Co., Ind. This could be the result of the death of his wife Christena, as there would have been no one in Indiana to direct his financial affairs.
On 20 Jul 1860, Thomas is living in household 1027 as a farmer in Michigan Bar, Cosumnes, Sacramento, Calif. Michigan Bar was a gold rush town about 25 miles east-southeast of Sacramento along the Cosumnes River. The Michigan Bar post office was established in 1855 and discontinued in 1935. As a town, it no longer exists; however a historical marker is located there.
Living with him are his son William McCartney and a farm laborer, Louis Barr, 28. Louis seems likely to be the same farm hand that worked for the family in South Bend in 1850, though his reported place of birth has changed from Pennsylvania to Ohio.
Based on marriage records from Sacramento, it appears that Thomas’ daughter Josephine McCartney also moved west and married a (J.F.) John Frank Bailey, who was born about 1830 in Maryland. The couple lives near Thomas in household 777, Michigan Bar, Cosumnes, Sacramento, Calif., and has a daughter named Emma Bailey, born 1859 in California.
Living with Frank and Josephine Bailey is B.F. [Benjamin Franklin] McCartney, the son of Thomas’ brother Nathaniel McCartney and his wife Abigail M (Parker) McCartney. Nathaniel, a miller like his father, had died of consumption/TB on 7 Jun 1856 in Scio, Linn, Ore., and his widow had moved to Chico Twp, Butte, Calif., perhaps to be near Thomas.
On 18 Jun 1860, the widow Abigail is living in household 189, Chico, Butte, Calif. Benjamin is also listed as living in her household along with his siblings, a double count.
It appears that Thomas McCartney died near Sacramento, Calif., of consumption/TB about 1861. There is no further record of his son William W. McCartney, or his daughters Amanda M. McCartney and Josephine (McCartney) Bailey. No solid record has been found of his granddaughter Emma Bailey.
Benjamin Franklin McCartney is last mentioned in his mother’s probate notice, which was filed on 31 Mar 1864.
The answer to what happened to some of them may be in the probate archives of St. Joseph Co., Ind., as it would have been necessary for the county to arrange for the proper disposal of Thomas McCartney’s assets.

Both my sister and I are stunned at how beautifully renovated the cemetary has become. I hope to visit again soon. I keep learning more and more about my father's family history which I've been able to trace back to Maryland in 1794. That part is still sketchy but I'm finding alot of info from Ohio where they lived before coming to California. Thanks again for the link!!!

I came across your post, due to some beautiful photos that were taken. I don't know if you had an opportunity to see them. They are taken by a gentleman who works for the City of Rancho Cordova and takes photos in his spare time (he really should do this for a living). His name is Steve Harriman and this is a link to his own website of photos. I thought since you had relatives here, you would enjoy seeing their final resting place and the celebration the City put on after bringing this Cemetery back to "life".

http://www.pbase.com/steve1h/kilgore

Click on the first one to open it to the larger size and sit back and enjoy!

I'm descended from James & Bridget Carbine of Michigan Bar via their son, Stephen & Kate [Macvey] Carbine, also of Michigan Bar, via James & Kate's daughter Ruby [Carbine] Bunker.

I am seeking both the US Port of Entry for both James and Bridget before they arrived in California. I have only that they were born in Ireland. Likewise, if possible, I'm seeking to learn whether Kate MacVey Carbine was native born or born in Ireland, and if the latter, what county? The records don't seem to be clear.

I know that James, Bridget, Stephen, Kate and related Carbine cousins' remains are buried in the former "St Josephs" Cemetery outside Michigan Bar, as are my parents cremains.

Kevin Bunker, Portland OR

I am going to come to the above cemetery on Oct. 5 to take pictures of tombstones that I have read are in the cemetery. My understanding is the cemetery is normally closed to the public due to vandalism. I am coming from Utah, and really want to do the photography. Who do I contact to get the cemetery opened and ask permission to take pictures? Thanks so much for your help. Sincerely, Holly Bell

Shanna
Great, you just live down the block.I was at the 100 year Anniversery of gold discovery at Coloma in January1948. Spent many hours at Placerville Grayhound station trying to get back to Sacramento that day.

I didn't expect you to know of those I listed. Just to show something in common on the Cosumnes. The sbc as well as innercite emails did not work. How can we comm. outside this forum? Add @hotmail.com to the From: and you got me. Then I will have a correct or at least a working address for you. I am looking for a Arthur or Otto Petersen that had a Beer Parlor between the El Dorado county line and Placerville. I looked in the Phone Books avail. in the State Library and they did not ring a bell with the person that told me about visiting him in about 1951. Are there El Dorado County Records that might have his name in them. Wifes name was Cruzita Peterson
He may have had living quarters in same building.

Bud Compton

Hi Bud:
Nice to get your reply. I don't know why your email didn't go through, 'cause that's my address!
Anyway, I don't know anything about the names you mention---were any of them from Missouri?
The families I am trying to follow came from Missouri, supposedly in a wagon train led by Hiram Hughes which arrived in Placerville in Aug. 1850. I have been able to find Hiram on several census reports, including 1850 in El Dorado County, running a hotel, I believe. ( I'm away from home right now, so don't have docs with me.) I had asked about the mining camp on the Cosumnes because that is where some related persons were ennumerated, and I wondered if they were at Michigan Bar.

The person I am really trying to find is John Hughes, the uncle of Hiram and my direct relative. He was supposed to be with his nephew's train, but I haven't found him yet.

I live in Placerville, so if anything I can help with, let me know.

Shanna Steed

I tried sending message to sssteed@sbcglobal.net about the above subject. It didn't go through. If you wish to contact me do so. Loyal and Eliza Moore as well as her brother George were on the Cosumnes River mining gold also according to 1850 census.

I myself am seeking more information on Loyal Madison & Eliza Ann (Finch)Moore, Gideon Devore, and George Finch which I already have information on but always looking for more and willing to share what I have. Gideon Devore was in the 1850 census in El Dorado County mining and later came to Amador County. George Finch was the son of Jonathan and Eliza Finch who came out from Wisconsin in about 1853 with the rest of the Finch Family as well as Loyal and Eliza's two sons George W. and Loyal C. Moore. It was in Jan of 1854 that Gideon Devore married Lydia Finch at the 'Moore Ranch" in Prairie Township near White Rock as well as Prairie City.

Bud Compton

Hi, I'm pretty sure that your grandfather you mentioned was a brother to the one in Sacramento that my children descend from. Bill and Ruth Frago lived in Sacramento and I know they corresponded with a cousin in Atwater, which I believe is your family. If so, we may have spoken before. Anyway, I'm putting the whole family history together and want to know how the whole Frago bunch fits together. As Bill explained it, his father and two brothers came from the Azores, Portugal. Bill was the youngest of at least 10 children and was born in 1898. I know there was a brother Frank and John, and I remember there was a Margaret. Bill, or as we called him "Grandpa Pat" told how two of the three brothers had their names changed from FRAGA to FRAGO through the courtesy of a type-o at Ellis Island. The two Frago brothers settled in the Sacramento Area and the third brother in Long Island, NY. Because the surname is a type-o, it's reasonable to assume that people with the last name of Frago would be related to these two brothers.

Found family members on the 1850 census, enumerated "on the Cosumnes River" in Sacramento County. They were mining for gold.

Does anyone know where on the Cosumnes this may have been? The census taker's name was Charles S. Coffinberry, and the date the information was recorded was 16 Sept 1850.

Thanks,

Shanna Steed

Virginia Cambie (1908-1973) was left in Los Angeles to work as a domestic/nanny with an understanding family when her other family moved back to BC, Canada. Virginia was developmentally delayed but was believed to be a sweet and loving person. I would dearly like to find out how to locate descendents of that family who took care of Virginia, and see if they have photos, etc. Other sources of CA information would be welcome, too.
I am her niece and never met her, or even knew of her existence until very recently. Any help deeply appreciated.

My great grandfather and great grandfather are buried at the Old Bellview Cemetary. I understand that their tombstone was one of those that was damaged, although one of my cousins told me that it had been repaired. The problem is that years have passed since I was there last and have no idea where it is on Elder Creek Road. Can anyone update this for me and then let me know how to get in to it, I understand that there is now a locked on the gate to the cemetary.
Thanks
