Trying to learn about other possible sources for genealogical research concerning the mining camps in the 1850s...Luman A Fowler was established in Crown Point, Indiana, but left to try his hand at mining in 1850. The 1850 Fed Census shows him 'on the Consumnes River', El Dorado County, CA, enumerated 1 Oct 1850. (although he does also show up in the 1850 Crown Point census record enumerated 15 August 1850, I presume he simply was listed by the family). He returned to Indiana by the late 1850s.

Can anyone suggest where there might be any records demonstrating activities while he was in CA?

Any help appreciated...
