Hi, Jon.

It's great that you know Yosemite. That was such an important place in the life of Edmund and all of us. Yes, it is a shame that the family lost track of itself. When did you first learn about Ole and a California connection? I can't believe I didn't know that his sisters also came to America. When my grandfather was still alive all of his sons and families would get together on Christmas Eve. But after he died that stopped, sadly, and we're only really in touch with a few of my Uncle Bill's kids. My dad and his brother Bob did business together for years and then became estranged from one another and, I'm sorry to say, never did patch things up. And we have been out of touch with his 8 kids. I am planning to contact them soon. The last time I saw my great uncle Tom's family-- (Ted, Peg, Ed and Sara were the ones who were there)-- was in 1986 up on Silver Mountain. I am planning to get back in touch with them as well. I have a genealogy question. When you search in the records from Norway, where do you look? Early last week I did stumble upon a website for Voss and actually found Ole's mom's death information. And I also stumbled upon something called Norwegian Heritage, another website. I should look for some info on Ellen. And I would like to find the ship info on Ole. All I ever heard was that he took a ship around South America to San Francisco. Any advice?

More later.

Lin
