She died 25 May 1860 near Wheatland and Kempton's Crossing. When and where did he die? Who were Ezra ALLISON and Flora OLIVER? Elizabeth was previously married to Robert HENDERSON who died in 1839. Last rites were held at the graveside in Sierra View memorial park yesterday afternoon for Mark A. Jones, who died Tuesday (March 2,1943) in this city. He was a native of Texas, aged 69 years and he had been living at 324 Walnut street, Marysville for several years. No information was available as to any family connections. Hutchison & Merz conducted the burial.

I have been researching my 4th great grandparents, Josiah Arnold and Elizabeth Bliss. I'm planning to write a book about Elizabeth's amazing life. She, Josiah and their two sons, Orson Pratt and Joseph Smith Arnold are listed as "Tavern Keepers" in the United States 1850 "Placerville and Vicinity" Census. I've spent years trying to determine the name and specific location of the tavern and believe I have finally found it! :-)

Based on the California Historical Society Quarterly, vol 14, page 394: "The Beginnings of Marysville" by Earl Ramey:
"These hostelries had been established on Second, Third and 'D' streets... smaller hotels... the National House run by... Arnold and Scott.

So, I'm looking for any information, stories, photos, drawings, basically: anything relating to the Arnold family and/or the National House. I know that the family left Salt Lake for Marysville on 7 May 1850 and that Josiah died in Salt Lake 1 Sep 1859 so they could only have been in Marysville between 1850 and 1859.

I'm hoping to learn about Elizabeth's life in Marysville and also where she died and was buried. The rest of her family made it back to Salt Lake City and were buried together there.

I feel a strong pull to discover where Elizabeth died and where she is buried so that I can honor her life by marking the site with a tombstone. It makes me feel really sad at the prospect of her being alone and in a potentially unmarked grave.

Infantry during the American Civil War. He enlisted as a Private at Marysville, California on 19/19/1864; and was mustered out at Presideo, California on 4/26/1866. I'm trying to trace Jack W. and Georgia (Georgiana) GARDNER PRATT TRAYNOR. From my research I see that a John TRAYNOR died in Yuba 7 Aug 1947, and Georgia TRAYNOR died 27 Oct 1978 Yuba Sutter. Are these the same people that are on the Los Angeles 1930 Census, with Georgiana's daughter Delores PRATT? Also Jack/John was a Locksmith in 1930. I have purchased a death certificate for Kenneth Edward Beeman, he died 16 July 1993 and was born on 18 Feb 1906 according to the death certificate. It states his mothers maiden name as Sophia E Muddock who was born in California. I am doing a One Name Study for Muddock and only have 1 possible Muddock who is English who it could be. I think this may be a transcription error. I would obvioulsy like to check the birth records and other records for Kenneth Edward Beeman to see what it shows up. Any assitance would be grateful. Margaret Jasper Lowry, 95, of Georgetown died Sept. 20. She was born Aug. 14, 1907 in Yuba County.
Remembered by many as a "spunky little redhead,"Mrs. Lowry lived and played in Georgetown from 1957. Though she had no children she was a "mother' to many and is survived by nine nieces and nephews. She was very grateful to the community, which cared for her in her final years.
Services are being conducted at 10 a.m. Oct 3 at Memory Chapel with Father Rolan Pabellan officiating. Interment is at 2 p.m. at Gridley Cemetery.

I am looking at the counties surrounding Butte County in case the children were born outside of Butte County.

Can somebody lookup birth & or baptism records for me please. I am looking for my grandmothers side of the family. The last name they were using on the 1880 Census for Oregon City in Butte County in CA was FRANK. On the 1st 10 or so pages of this census it says City Of Cherokee. My family is Portuguese so there is a possibility they are using the last name spelled FRANCK, FRANCISCO, FRANCISCA, FRANCA, MARTIN OR HENRIQUES. Or the last name spelling starting with FRA. HENRIQUES is the maiden name of the mother Mary. I was told that Portuguese people usually didn't use there birth names when they came to the U.S., that is why I have given a few differant spellings. The mother & fathers names are Martin & Mary both born in Portugal or The Azores.

Here are the childrens names.
Frank, Mary Born CA (Most Likely instead of MA) 1875
Frank, Frank (Yes they named one of there children Frank Frank) Born 1877
Manuel Born 1879 or 1880

There are possibly 4 other children that were born after the 1880 census. Josephine, Alice Rena & May/Mae and Martin. My grandmother Alice Rena Frank (Franck) married my grandfather Gus Foster Rowe approx. 1908.

I have been looking for my grandmothers side of the family for 14 months now with no luck. I am grasping at straws and loosing hope of ever finding them and would appreciate any help.

I'm a volunteer with the Search for the Grunion project. The USS Grunion was a WWII submarine that went missing in July, 1942 and today a search is underway to locate this sub and we wish to share the news with the families of the lost crewmen.

I'm hoping the obit for a Kenneth Foch Webster who died in Yuba Co. CA on Oct 11, 1988 will help me with this quest.

THOMAS SKINNER died at Frenchtown, Yuba county, on Saturday last, of congestion of the brain. The deceased died quite suddenly. He was attacked while at work in his orchard, and walking to the porch of his residence laid down and said: "Wife I am dying." He immediately expired. Deceased was a native of England, and aged 44 years.

She may have been married to an Allen Presley b. IRE l848 who is buried in the Smartsville Fraternal Cemetary died Nov. 6,l895. Her son George J. Presley was b. Yuba Co. Dec. l884, dau. Lydia in l878,dau.Edna in l882. I do find an Allen and Hugh Presley on the Yuba. Co. Census for l870, but do not know if they are related. Later find both families in Rough and ready, Nev. Co. in l880, but know my grandfather was from Smartsville. Any info. or advice in finding much appreciated!

Trying to locate the where abouts of Fannie J. Farnham after the will of her late husband, Apollos, was probated in 1882. I know she inherited the GOLDERN EAGLE HOTEL/ SALOON, therefore she must be found in the Registry of Deeds. Also, being only about 30 years of age, she may have remarried. Do not believe that she and Apollos had issue. She may have returned to Maine where where she was born.

She had the following known children: Vincent Lorenzo HENDERSON who married Nancy Elizabeth HUMPHREYS; William Wallace HENDERSON; Betsy Ann HENDERSON who married Albert BOGART; Mary E. KIRKPATRICK who married William S. EDGAR; Martha M.

KIRKPATRICK who married W. S. DUNN; Robert Bruce KIRKPATRICK; and Caroline KIRKPATRICK who married a man with the surname of SARGENT. These children's birthdates range from 1830 to 1849, they all came to the Bear River area of Yuba county in 1852 or 1853. What became of these people? Please respond with any information. Lee Roy Dame was born 1910 in Center, Oklahoma to David Valentine & Lonie (Henry) Dame.

Ova Lee Saylors was born 1912 in White County, Tennessee to Abe & Mollie E. Saylors.

They were married in either Pontotoc or Garvin Counties, Oklahoma and had three children:

1) a baby boy that was born & died in Oklahoma

2) Royce Lee Dame, 1941 - 1993, also listed as Royce Damekinsley and Royce Kinsley, he had about two or three daughters

3) Denise Dame, possibly living, family lost connection with her

I am seeking a copy of my ancestor's death record. Her birth name was Janet McAuslan b. 11 Dec 1840 in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. She was married to John Allan, Henry Rackelbush, and Abraham (William) Tarode. She married Mr. Tarode a year before her death. She died 3 Aug 1890 in Marysville according to a letter written by her brother. Supposedly buried in Marysville Cemetery but haven't found her name in any transcription of the cemetery. Any ideas on how to get a quick cheap copy of this record?

My sister Terry Darlene Sroka-Hogge died July 12th 2002 by a car accident. She lived with here husband Tom Sroka in Yuba City. Last knowing address: 213 El Margarita Rd, Yuba City. Terry was the owner of the hair-saloon "Terry's hair and nailes". As much as i know, she started a carreer as a blues and country singer.
The names of here 4 daughters: Nicole, Emily, Michelle and Sally.

Geraldine and Pauline Hale were sisters who were born about 1932 in or near Springfield Missouri. Their parents were James Herbert and Anna Lorene Hale. In 1943, James Herbert Hale passed away. Anna Lorene remarried and moved to the Sutter--Yuba County, CA., area. Anna Lorene died about 1990 in that area. Geraldine and Pauline (one or both) may still be living in that area. The sisters had a brother, Robert Clifton Hale who lived in Shasta County, CA., when he passed away in 1972. I would like to know if Geraldine or Pauline are still living in that area.
