To those interested on McCourtney name in Yuba County, I live here and will visit the Yuba County Library for anyone wanting information. I have been looking for the area of the Trading post along the Bear River but that area was buried under Camp Far West Lake. When the lake is low as it is now (Feb. 2014) you can see at least one rock foundation and at one time I did find a post office box door in a that foundation filled with debris. I will be making a trip there soon and hopefully find this same foundation and GPS it. Let me know if I can help, my family is from NY and MI.
