I don't think either one was Evan because the last record for him was around 1875 or 1880. California didn't start using death records until 1905. He probably died 1881-1899 since he wasn't in the 1900 Yuba County Census.

You can do a Google search for Yuba County California Cemeteries and look for him in the inventoried cemeteries.

You can contact the Yuba County Library, www.co.yuba.ca.us/departments/library/GenealogicalResources=... and ask if they have indexed obituaries or early death records.

Another possible resource is the California Digital Newspaper Collection, http://cdnc.ucr.edu/cig-ben/ and look for his death notice in the early newspapers. Successful Searching!
