I see that this was posted quite a while ago. There weren't any abortions per se, but there were doctors who performed the abortions, some in hospitals and some in-office. Abortions were also performed by home-remedies, there were quite a few home-remedy methods. My great-grandmother died in 1936 from an incomplete abortion (ending in infection) while she lived in Montalvo (not far from Santa Paula).
