Hi, I found a news item and picture in the Nov. 29th Trinity Journal. How would you like me to send them to you?
Our Museum is run with Volunteers, so a small donation ($3.00) for research and photo copy would help us. Please let me know.
Joan
jogeo@snowcrest.net
I looked for the son yesterday and no luck. You should try Solano County.Ca. All the newspapers now have websites and the Libraries. Also the Historical societies have websites too. You can find someone over there to lookup for you. I am doing all my family too, so I have a lot of info for research. Good luck.

Joan

Hello,

Piety Hill was a mining town in Shasta Co., CA, which is directly east of Trinity County and in the farthest northern point of the Sacramento Valley, at the convergence of the Sierra Nevada Mtns. and the Cascade Range. The name Piety Hill is no longer used and the name of the town has been changed to Igo,CA, which is a very small town in the southwestern part of Shasta Co., CA. Google Igo and you can find a map showing its' location. Hope this helps. From local lore, the town was named after some elderly woman whose home town was Piety Hill, MI, who was a resident in the old mining town.

Sincerely,
David Anderson

David

Betty; This isn't directly a John Owen question, but since you seem to have some Owen resources I thought I would try you for my query;
Thomas Owens, a pioneer of 1843, was born in Tazewell county, Virginia, January 12, 1808. He died at Piety Hill, California, in 1873, July 23d. Now according to his daughter that is in Trinity Co, but I don't find a piety hill anywhere in California. So first of all is there such a place in Trinity Co and is that where Thomas Was buried.

Thanks, but as you say I already have the obits. I should have followed up to say I had them. But, there is one more obit for the family I have yet to find, so if you are willing and have the time, would you mind seeing if you can find an obit for the son of George and Maude? His name was William Henry Lybolt and he died on August 29, 1982 in Solano county, CA, but since his family was from Trinity there is a chance there may be an obit in a local paper.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mavis
I looked at the records and read them, but it didn't have any other family info. I don't think he had any family here, as when he died the court appointed a man by the name of W.B. Testy to sell all his things and property. He died March 7, 1902, notice to creditors on April 3,1902,property sold on Aug. 18,1910. I don't know if this is the one you are looking for? The balance on his estate was giving to the state in the amount of $84.11. Sorry I couldn't find any other info. I looked in the "People files and couldn't him in there either, only the court papers and probate papers from the court house. If this is the one and you would like copies, let me know, and I can give you a price for copying and shipping.
Joan
