William Lee Fox was my great great grandfather and I am looking for his descendants in California. He moved to Weaverville CA in 1852 and remarried there and had children there. I have an Orson FOX b. ca. 1826 CT with wife Elizabeth HUPP b. ca. 1837 Ireland living in Weaverville Pct., Trinity Co., CA in 1870's & 1880's (gold miner in 1870 & overseer of roads in 1880) who has children Flora, William "Willie", Elizabeth "Lizzie", Anne "Annie", and Isabelle. They might be related to your FOX families, I think. Orson's wife Elizabeth was a sister of Louisa HUPP who m. John G. SANBURN [aka SANBORN] and W. I. HUPP, who m. Isabell ___. The HUPPs were born in Ireland.

William Lee Fox of Illinois was my great-great-great grandfather. I am descended through his son Harrison (also of Illinois), who also traveled to California in the 1800's and settled in the Trinity/Shasta areas. I was unaware William had remarried. I also have his date of death as Dec. 10, 1873. Harrison married Mariah (Maria) L. Sandefur in California. If you would like more information regarding the California Foxes please let me know. Look at Lewis county New York. A group of about 50 miners left for CA and some went to the Trinity area. I believe someone there is looking for a Fox family. One of my family members also originated in Europe, resided in Lewis Co. and came out west.
