Aunt Betty and Uncle Marvin were married sometime after he returned from WWII. I was born in 1948 and have pictures of them holding me at about one year old. Aunt Betty was married previously, but I do ot know to whom. She had a daughter named Pearl but I do not recall ever knowing her. I believe she inherited when Uncle Marvin died. (Yes, I know that Pearl is also my grandmothers name---). Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Markoni family

I'm researching a new line on my wife's family tree, her great-great grandmother Elizabeth Markoni Lueckenhoff. I see from the 1850 census in Missouri that she was the daughter of Henry & Gertrude Markoni (although the spelling on that census shows "Markony") and she had three siblings, Maria, Francis and Catherine.

I'm finding a listing for a Frank Markoni, born in Missouri in the Sutter County 1880 census and again in 1900. He's listed as single and as a shoemaker or cobbler. I also see him coming up on the voter rolls, as well as a Henry Markoni born around 1804. I'm guessing these are my wife's 3rd great grandfather and the son, Francis.

Any death records or other census records for any Markoni family members that anyone's aware of?

Thank you very much. I was told by family, that it was Sutter. This is the story that they would have been told by him before he died. I am hoping this was true but up to this point, it's been a dead end for me. Greatly appreciated.

All I know is that apparently Daniel (I think his initial was A) Floyd and his wife were in the area of Sutters?. William Floyd listed his father as Daniel Floyd but on another record there was just an A. Floyd as the father; and he recorded his mother as Mary Hunt. He said he was born in California, as were his siblings he told the family that his parents left the East specifically to either look for gold or work in the area supported by the gold rush.
I haven't been able to find any birth records for
William or any kids for a Daniel and Mary Floyd etc.

I am trying to find information on a FLOYD family that apparently left either NY or Illinois, for California during the gold rush. It is believed that Daniel (A?) Floyd and his wife Mary Hunter, travelled to California and settled somewhere around the Sacramento area at the height of the gold rush. They had a few children, one of them was a son William Harrison Floyd born abt 1852? and at least 2 daughters whose names are unknown. William Floyd left home by age 14 but it appears that the family were still in California and there is no indication they left. William did not get married until about 1893 in Iowa. I have been unable to find any information on this family at all. William subsequently died in 1930 in Oregon.

Hi,
It will be difficult to find anything about Pete's life 1942 and later because neither Sutter or Yuba Counties have genealogical societies.

There MIGHT be an obituary for Pete who died in Yuba Co., July 1977. I said might because if he was living alone and had no family there, one might not have been published.

There isn't an obituary source in Yuba Co. for someone from out of the area. You can contact the California State Library, library.ca.gov/calhist/genealogy.html and they'll send you a list of researchers who will look up his obituary for a fee.

I looked up Wade Noblin hoping to find a city/county directory and his business type. I did find his death info.
Wade D. Noblin
Born: 15 Feb 1901, Missouri
Died: 27 March 1984, Sutter Co., CA
Mother's Maiden Name: Thompson
Source: California Death Index 1940-97.

You'll need to contact the California State Library for his obituary too which might mention his business.

I just found your post from 2010. If you're still interested, Susan Williams-Blue-Barnes was Lifous Striplin's mother-in-law. She came out to Sutter county from Illinois by covered wagon with the Striplin families about 1858. I don't recall any children from her mariage to Jerimah Barnes so I am assuming your husband is a Blue. By memory, I can recall a bit of Susan's history and much more if I can find a dusty old box I put away years ago. Close at hand I have a photo of Susan seated next to Lifous dated sometime prior to 1900 as well as photos of her grave site at Fairview. Let me know what you want to know, I am glad to try to help.
I'm doing a little genealogy research on my ancestors. I saw a posting on Rootsweb, where you talked about your great-grandmother Dora Wartell. I know that my grandmother Jennie Katz (married: Ravitch) was related to her (I believe that Dora was Jennie's aunt), but I'm having a bit of a hard time finding evidence. My mother remembers seeing this Indiana clan often during her childhood, but her memory is vague about exactly how her mother was related. Also, I noticed in the cemetery listing, that Dora's maiden name was listed as Potelski, but her obituary said Wartell. I'm assuming that the obituary is right.
I checked your family trees, but couldn't find a Cornelius Henry identified, although you did have Henry's listed.

The 1910 Census of Vernon, Sutter Co, California
Cornelius Henry, age 43(1866/1867), Single, born in CA to father born in Ohio, mother in Iowa, Laborer/Farm. Living on property of Dewitt Cuddleback, Jr, and his family.

The 1920 Census of Butte, Sutter County, CA
Cornelius E. Henry, age 47(1872/1873), born in CA to father born in CA, mother in Iowa, farmer/owned. Shown as married.
--The two lines below Henry have nothing to do with this person having a family, all the other families are divided by one line up to three lines in that same column. I won't speculate, but it "appears" this enumerator divided families with these lines. I won't speculate on these two being the same person, there is not enough proof to do that.

I did a number of other searches in different systems, cemeteries, books, Land Patent purchases, etc. I found nothing outside of the 1910 census for your Cornelius. When you post, it's helpful to provide other criteria information, known DOB, parents, siblings, etc. There are persons that subscribe to the 1905-1929 Vital search death listings of CA, hopefully one can check the records.

Hi Revae,
I think the Cornelius E. Henry in 1920 in Butte, Sutter Co., CA is your Cornelius Henry.
Cornelius E. Henry, b. CA, 47, father born=CA & mother born=IA, married, general farmer.

Under Cornelius are two horizontal lines which I believe represent that the Census person was told he had a wife and child but the Informant didn't know their names or any other information about them.

I didn't find Henry's death info on-line, however, the Sutter County Clerk Recorder, www.co.sutter.ca.us/doc/government/depts/cr/crhome has records back to 1873.

The Sutter County Funeral Homes are listed at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~casutter/resources.htm.
Successful Searching!
