Verda Foote, Resident Of Keyes 17 Years, Dies

TURLOCK – Verda Foote, 79 a resident of the Keyes district since 1908, died early today in her home following an extended illness.

A native of Iowa, Mrs. Foote came to California in 1906. She lived in Turlock until her marriage in 1908.

She leaves her widower Arthur; three sons, Warren of Empire, Leland of Keyes and Donald of Lancaster; four daughters, Lucille and Dorothy Foote of Keyes, Alice Foote of Bolivia, South America, and Eloise Halpren of San Francisco, and six grandchildren.

The Norton Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

A. L. Foote Retired Rancher, Former Bank Director, Dies At 78

Turlock -- Arthur L. Foote, 78, a retired Deyes district rancher and former bank director, died yesterday morning in a Ceres rest home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday in the Norton Mortuary by the Rev. Cecil F. Wilkins, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be in Turlock Cemetery.
Foote was a director of the old People's State Bank of Turlock about 40 years. Ot ;ater became tje First National Bank and now is the First Western Bank.
Born in Nephi, Utah, Foote was reared in that state and was graduated from college in Salt Lake City. He taught school in Idaho a year before coming to Turlock and Keyes in 1906.
In Modesto in 1908 he maried the former Verda Harper who died in 1955.
Foote leaves three sons, Warren of Empire, Leland of Keyes and Donald of Visalia, Tulare County; four daughters, Alice Foote, a missionary in Bolivia, Lucille and Dorothy Foote of Keyes and Eloise Halperin of San Francisco; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Have recently found what I think is my long lost uncle (last communication in 1912-13) George Godsey Seward. Born April 15, 1882. in Virginia, mother's maiden name Godsey. Apparently died June 26, 1963 in Stanislaus Co., Cal.

Oscar F GENN, 69, an area resident for 15 years died Monday, in Ceres hospital after a long illness. A native of Oklahoma he was a retired agricultrural worker. He was a member of IOOF Lodge 149 and Rebekah Lodge 110, both in Modesto and the First Baptist Church of Springer, OK. Survivors include his widow Jewell HOLLAND GENN of Ceres, 9 children: Taylor GENN, Joe Lee GENN, and Pauline DAVIS of Texas, Calvin E. GENN, and Billy Ray GENN of Colorado, Paul D GENN, Charles GENN and Geraldine BARNES of CA, Franklin O of New Mexico, two sisters Juanita CUEDE of Ontario, CA and Lorene KYLE of Arizona, 36 nieces and nephews, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Burial at Patterson Cemetary.

I have an obituary for Charles Marvin Wright (Apr 1833, VT -9 Dec 1903, Newman, Stanislaus Co, CA). Also have his 2nd wife's obituary, Thankful Elizabeth, d. 9 May 1910, Newman, but do not have their death certificates. Would appreciate any help in either getting the information (parents, etc.) from the County, or instructions on how to do it from out-of-state.
If helpful - their children were George, Lydia (Homer), and Mary (Ward). Charles also had children from first wife: John, Marion/Marvin, and Laura (Martin).

Turlock, California. I do not know her maiden named nor the date of death of her husband, James Coleman Holland. They lived in Turlock all of their married lives, I believe, and she is buried in Turlock Memorial Park, apprently without him by her side. They had no children.

Rudolf Lindbeck Dies After Brief Illness

A resident of Turlock for 22 years, Rudolf Lindbeck, 50, passed away at Collins Hospital Friday noon following a brief illness.

He was a native of San Francisco and lived there prior to comeing to Turlock in 1922.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 at Guy's Funeral chapel. The Rev. F. Carl Schmidt of the First Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Turlock Cemetery.

Suvivors are his mother, Mrs. Bertha Lindbeck of Turlock ; three brothers, Albert M. Lindbeck who is stationed at Eastport, ME;four sisters, Mesdames Dagmar Belier and Maria Carlquist of Turlock, Helena Graves of Las Vegas, Nev. and Esther Cornell of San Francisco.

Looking for information on John Lee Johnson & Esther Amelia Hawkinson. John & Esther were married between 1910 - 1915 and lived in California between 1910 and 1919; they're in Osage County, KS on the 1920 census and then moved back to Stanislaus County sometime before the 1930 census. I think they had 4 children - Evelyn, Donald Oliver, Glenn Alfred and Ellen B. Both John & Esther died in Stanislaus County and are buried in the Turlock Memorial Gardens. One of their sons, Glenn Alfred is also buried there. John died 8 Sep 1979, Esther died 30 Mar 1977 and Glenn died 18 May 1987. Any info such as -- marriage records of the children, death dates for the other children, obituaries, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks!!

CLINT M. CONNER—Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Turlock Memorial Park for Clint McNeil Conner, 84, of Turlock, who died Monday at his home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s office.

A native of Ohio, he lived in Turlock since 1963 and operated his own shoe repair shop. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by a sister, Ada Austin of Dos Palos.

Services are being handled by Allen Mortuary.

Charles C. Pope Services Thursday

Services will be held tomorrow for Charles C. Pope, 89, who died Monday night in a Modesto nursing home following a short illness.

The funeral will be helt at 11 a.m. in the Norton Mortuary with the Rev. Hugh Ousley, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in the Denair Cemetery.

Mr. Pope was born in Texas and had lived for 25 years in Cordell, Okla. before coming to California in 1919. He lived in Denair until 1939 and in Waterfords ince that time. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Ola Chappell of Portland; Wanda Goodman of Stockton and Needa Kreutz, of Modesto; a sister, Ella Little of Texas; a brother Byron Pope of Oklahoma and five grandchildren.

Hello! I just recently came across an old photo of Modesto's Barium mens softball team taken on the diamond at the Modesto State Hospital in 1955. My father, Cliff Heller played with the team for several years. The names of all players are written on the back and include the surnames Crismon, Anglin, Hudson, Skinner, Slater, Costa, Welsh, Hopper, and McDonnel. If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to email a copy to you.

Services were held today at the Norton Mortuary for Virgil Austin Deaver, 83, who died Saturday at a Turlock hospital following a short illness. Rev. Jimmy Taylor of the Church of Christ was to officiate, burial was to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.

A native of Texas, he moved to the Imperial Valley in 1928 and settled in the local area in 1942. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the World War I Barracks of Turlock and the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Leo Deaver of Turlock; a daughter Doris Fletcher of Santee; a Sister, Zula Payne of Turlock; a brother Dave Deaver of San Bruno; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Ramos Claimed By Death

Funeral servoces were being planned today for Mrs. Mary Ramos, aged rural resident, who died at her home three miles west of Turlock Monday night.

Mrs. Ramos, about 75, was a native of the Azore Islands. She came to the United States 51 years ago, spent a year in Massachusetts, and then moved to California. She had lived in various parts of California and moved to Turlock six years ago.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three sons, Joseph E. Martin, Lompoc, Calif; John Ferriera, Turlock, and Frank E. Martin, Newman; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Goularte, Modesto; Mrs. Minnie Faria, Turlock; two brothers, Joseph F. Costa, Lompoc; and Anthony F. Costa, San Luis Obispo.

Mrs. Ramos was a member of S. P. R. S. I., Gilroy, and U. P. P. E. C., Atwater.

Rites will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church here. Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery, Merced, under direction of the J. W. Guy Funeral Chapel, 247 North Broadway.

Funeral services for Glenn H. Regar, 54, a former resident of Hughson who died Wednesday in a Stockton Hospital will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in J. W. Guy Funeral Chapel, 247 North Broadway with Rev. Laurence C. Sunkler of the Turlock Christian Church officiating.

Regar, a native of Kansas, stayed in his native state for over 25 years before moving to Hughson where he remained until recently when he moved to Stockton.

He leaves his father, George W. Regar, of Hughson, three brothers, Olin and Clarence of Turlock and Kenneth Regar of Los Angeles. He is also survived by four sisters, Miss Bertha Regar of Berkeley, Miss Carolyne Regar of Stockton and Mrs.S.A.Adams, of Hughson.

Interment will follow in Turlock Cemetery.

Turlock Man is Killed By Auto

Turlock traffic had claimed another life today.
Walter Francis Martin, 68-year-old Turlock district rancher was crossing the Golden State Highway a short distance south of the city limits at about 7:40 p.m. yesterday evening on foot.
Out of the darkness sped an automobile, headed north driven by Zulmira F. Tomas. The auto struck Martin, hurled him 100 feet.
Martin was not killed instantly. He was taken by ambulance to Emanuel Hospital here, where he lived until 9 o’clock last night.
He sustained compound fractures of both legs, a fractured skull, and multiple cuts and bruises.
When her car struck Martin, Mrs. Tomas lost control of the vehicle and the auto careened wildly across the highway before coming to a halt on the west side of the road.
John F. Tomas, the driver’s husband, and an infant also were in the car, but none of the occupants of the auto was injured.
Mrs. Tomas told police she did not see Martin until it was too late to avoid striking him.
Martin lived at 640 South Center Street here, formerly made his home on the Country Club Road, at Route 1, Box 629, Turlock.
Martin a native of Missouri is survived by his wife, Nellie R. Martin of Turlock; six sons Jay and Clarence of Vernalis; Frank L. and Fred of Linwood, Calif.; Harry and Clyde of Turlock; two daughters, Mrs. Katie Olds of Merced and Mrs. Mildred Dyke of Brea, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Julia Bryant of Nampa, Idaho, and eight grandchildren.
He lived in Missouri for 37 years, then moved to Inannah, Tex., where he resided for 10 years. He then lived in Arizona for two years, moved to Fullerton, Calif., where he stayed 12 years, and came to Turlock seven years ago.
Funeral services, strictly private will be held at the J. W. Guy Chapel 247 North Broadway, at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Interment will be in Turlock Cemetery.
Chief of Police E. W. Gaddy, Capt. Allen H. Dodson, and Patrolman L. W. Bevier investigated.

Bashier Aweeka Died Suddenly

Bashier Louis Aweeka, 57, died suddenly at a Modesto hospital Wednesday, Jan. 5. He was born in Syria, and came to the United States 33 years ago, and lived in California for the past 23 years. He operated a shoemaker shop at East Olive and Main Sts.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Thelma Aweeka, and three sons; George Aweeka of Berkeley, Edward Aweeka of Turlock, and John Frances Aweeka of the U. S. Navy. Two daughters, Mrs. Patrick Michael of San Francisco, and Nellie Aweeka of Turlock.

Funeral services will be conducted at Sacred Heart church on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Thomas Fleming officiating. J. W Guy’s Funeral chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements. Burial will be in the Turlock cemetery.

Squadron Leader Visits Parents Of Fighter Pilot

Mr. and Mrs. Karl K. SNYDER, , Hughson, parents of First Lt. William Snyder, killed in an air battle over Bonn, Germany, recently received a commendation from the commanding officer of Lt. SNYDER’S fighter squadron praising their son.

William Haille, skipper of the 485th fighter squadron of the 370th fighter group of the 9th air force, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Snyder and told them, “Bill was one of my best friends and one of my best men. He was a clever pilot.

“I was his commanding officer from the time he arrived in England, and all the way through the battle of the battle of the Belgian bulge Bill accomplished all his assignments in an exemplary manner.

Authorities Hunt Relatives of Man Dead By Hanging

A man identified from social security and draft cards hanged himself in a rancher’s barn near here late Wednesday.

Authorities believed he was Hiram Wallace CULBERTSON, between 35 and 40.

Addresses carried on the cards were Lebanon, Ind., Thornton Ind., and Twin Falls, Idaho.

Swan JOHNSON, who resides a mile south of Turlock, discovered the body when he returned home from work.

He notified authorities, who believed the man had committed suicide during the afternoon.

Dr. J. D. RANSOM, coroner, said he would attempt to tract relatives through the cards.

The body is at the Drake Memorial chapel.

Harry L. Nesbitt, 69, of Escalon died Thursday at Oak Valley Hospital, Oakdale.

Mr. Nesbitt was a native of Stockton. He lived in Escalon eight years. He was a newspaper machinist. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita F. Nesbitt of Escalon; children, Tom Gerberg and Karen Nesbitt, both of Escalon, and Gary Nesbitt of Vacaville; mother, Vida Nesbitt of Oakdale; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be conducted at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Deegan Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nesbitt was a native of Bartlesville, Okla. She lived in Escalon five years. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Trottier of Lemoore; daughter-in-law and primary caregiver, Margaret Nesbitt of Oakdale; and two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Private inurnment will be at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward. Deegan Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

I am trying to find a date of death for my distant cousin Texas A. Moore. He was born in 1867 in Logan County, Illinois, and moved to Riverbank in the mid 1920s, where he retired from the railroad. He probably died sometime in the mid to late 1930s. His wife's name was Cora, and she outlived him, surviving until September 27, 1944.

Pauline Boden, 77, of Oakdale died Thursday at Oak Valley Hospital.

Ms. Boden was a native of Arkansas. She lived in Oakdale 26 years. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Jake Boden of Oakdale, JoAnn Lowe of Idaho and Sandra Boden of Illinois; sisters, Claudia Miles of Oaklahoma and Ava Krehbiel Of N.M.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Services will conclude at the chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Death Calls Wm. W. Wolfe, Retired Turlock Rancher

After a three week’s illness, William Wesley Wolfe, 81, died Monday evening in a local hospital.

He had been engaged in business in Union, Neb. for 35 years prior to his coming to Turlock where he was a rancher from 1914 until his retirement from active work about a year and a half ago. Since then, he had spent the major portion of his time with his daughter, Mrs. Lola W. Jennings of Red Bluff, Calif.

He was Master Mason of the Newhawka Lodge A. F. & A. M. No. 246, Newhawka, Neb. And member of the First Baptist church of Turlock.

Funeral services will be conducted y the Rev. S. R. Dunlop in Drake memorial chapel Wednesday, June 20, at 2:20 p. m. Interment will be in Turlock cemetery.

The only other survivor, besides his daughter, is a brother, tom Wolfe of Bellingham, Wash.

Lavina Wolfe Is Dead At 77
Mrs. Lavina Jane Wolfe, age 77, died at a local hospital Wednesday morning, Nov. 3, after a brief illness. Funeral services from the O'Hara-Lund mortuary Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. will be conducted by Rev. S. R. Dunlop of the First Baptist church, of which deceased was a prominent member, with a large circle of friends.

Mrs. Wolfe was a native of Agency, Missouri, living afterwards in Factorville, Nebraska, where she married William W. Wolfe in 1887.

Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe *established the town of Union, Neb., where they lived until they came to Turlock in 1914.

Besides the widower, William W. Wolfe, there are surviving a daughter, Mrs. Oscar J. Jennings, El Centro, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Interment will be in the family plot at Turlock cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Smith Is Called By Death

Mrs. Sarah E. SMITH a resident of the Turlock district for the past twenty eight years, passed away at the family home east of Turlock late Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. SMITH was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, sixty-seven years of age, and resided in Texas before coming to California forty-six years ago. She had taken an active part in social circles here and was a member of the Christian Church.
On December 11th Mr. and Mrs. SMITH celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband, James H. Smith, she leaves two sons, Frank M. SMITH of Turlock and James H. SMITH Jr. of Merced, and a daughter, Mrs. Ernest FREEMAN of Turlock. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie DELOSS and Mrs. Charles BARNES, both of Los Angeles, and a brother, J. M. MOORE.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Guy Funeral Chapel and will be announced later.

In 1880 Modesto, California, Luther says he was born in MO, no birthplace for his father; his mother born MO. Wife Mary Jane lived in Napa Co in 1900 but Luther is not in the home.

I am looking for the obituaries, death dates and gravestone pictures for my grandfather's sister and husband. Percy A Anderson was born in 1903 in Nebraska--Mary Edna (Boerner) Anderson was born in Nebraska in 1906. She may go by Edna M. That is how she was called by her family. They were married in Chamberlain, Brule County South Dakota on October 26 1924. They lived in South Dakota until after the 1930 Federal Census, living in Winner, Tripp County South Dakota at that time. I have found similar names in the SSDI, but want to make certain. If these are correct, I have Percy born January 23 1904 and dying March of 1970 with Modesto as last residence. Edna born November 5 1906 and passing December of 1988. Edna was the only remaining member of her branch of the Boerner family when my grandfather passed in 1986. Modesto was also last residence.

A native of Snowball, Ark., he came to California in 1940, moved to Livingston 14 years ago and was involved in ranching. He showed horses throughout California and was a member of the Cal-Western Appaloosa Club of Turlock. A former professional wrestler, he was active in promoting the sport.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Whitson of Livingston; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitson of Bakersfield; a son, Bobbie Whitson of Honolulu; [brothers] Marvin of Phoenix, Howard of Lomita, Lloyd of Carollton, Tex., Lyle and Orvan, both of Bakersfield; six sisters, Ruby Parent of Lamont, Eulene Niemeyer of Hesperian, Johnnie Noblitt, Iva Moring, Shirley Stanifer, and Deloris Luck, all of Bakersfield.
The family requests that contributions in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society.

I believe Gordon Hickman died July of 2007. I've been looking for information about Alice C. Lea Chilson born 1886 in Verona New York, Gordon Hickman would have been her grandson by Alices daughter Bernice Chilson Hickman, there was also a son named Howard. I believe Gordons father was Sydney Hickman and that he was from England. Alice was married to a Benjamin Chilson also born in New York 1885. The last information I have about Alice is from the 1920 census report, her and her family were living in Alameda County. Alice had 2 sisters Fanny Lea Torres and Maude Lea Ford her mother Martha Lea, all had moved from New York to CA between 1910 and 1920.

Carl E. Maze, 78, of Modesto died Tuesday at Colony Park Nursing Home.

Mr. Maze was a native of Longdale, Okla. He lived in Modesto 55 years. He was a die maker for American Can Co. for 27 years. He belonged to the Good Sam Club. And he was a member of the Foresters. He was an Army veteran,
serving from 1942 to 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Madeline Maze of Modesto; children, Ed Maze of Modesto, Richard Maze of Washington, D.C., Philip Maze of Lexington, Ky., and Henry Maze of Walnut Creek; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. No visitation.

POW/MIA Korean War Stanislaus County

I am searching for the family of three soldiers who was killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave Stanislaus County, Claifornia as their home of record.

Soldier: GOERGE ALEXANDER ROBINSON

Date of loss: October 25, 1952 KIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 212 families from California that have not been located. There are three families from Stanislaus County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Ruth W. Thorp died after 1956, born around 1892 in Arkansas. Husband's name was Wharton B. Thorp, he died July 19,1956.

Martha Jean Thorp born in 1921 in Denver, CO. died around 1999-2000 give or take 1 or 2 years.

There was also a baby, George Thorp born around 1923 and didn't live very long but not sure of any dates or places.
Not sure if it was in California or Colorado. They didn't stay very long anywhere but California.

Mrs. Retzlaff Passes After Long Illness

Arminda V. Retzlaff, the wife of Hermon Retzlaff of Denair, died in Turlock Wednesday morning, September 25, after an extended illness. Mrs. Retzlaff was a native of Ellensburg, Washington, aged 37 years, two months and nine days at the time of passing. She came to California with her parents when an infant and has spent the greater part pf her life in this district.

Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Elsie, Lena, Marjorie and Velma Retzlaff; two sons, Wilford and Melvyn Retzlaff, all of Denair and the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. William Carlos, William Lester and Wendel Sweeney of Turlock, Mrs. Edna Parker of Riverside, Lloyd Sweeney of Salinas, Kenneth Sweeney of Sacramento and Glenn Sweeney of Norden, Placer county.

Funeral services will take place at the Guy Funeral Chapel at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, September 27, with the Rev. A. M. Gibson, pastor of the Friends Church at Denair, officiating. Interment will be made in the Turlock cemetery.

Do a bit of work on a family that went from Ontario Canada to Modesto California in around 1883 + or -

They had 8 children most born in Canada although when I see them on the various Census' the majority say they were born in California.

Samuel died after 1890 as did Matatable...I don't know when nor do I know what happened to some of their children

Howard L. Gentry Sr.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Mortuary for Howard Lee Gentry Sr., 68, of Livingston, who died Saturday at a local hospital. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.

Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., he moved to Los Banos after his discharge from the Navy in 1946. He worked as a heating mechanic at Castle Air Force Base after moving to the Livingston area in 1957.

He was a former member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and the Livingston Planning Commission. He was a member of the Livingston American Legion Post No. 83 and the Merced Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Jean A. L. Gentry of Livingston; three sons, Bill of Fresno, Chuck of Reno, Nev., and Howard Jr. of Livingston; a daughter, Linda Weaver of Fresno; a brother, Robert of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Edna McGee of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Ruby Smalley of Los Banos; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

George Johnson, 79 Succumbs To Illiness

George A. Johnson, 79, died this morning in a Modesto hospital following a short illness.

A native of Clay County, S. D., Mr. Johnson moved with his family to Paso Robles in 1888. He made his home there until coming to Turlock in 1937. He was a member of thr Calvery Baptist Church.

He is survived by four sisters, Martha Samuelson, Christina Lindstrom and Lillian Phillips, all of Turlock, and Niva Hanson of Oakland, and two brothers, Ed and William, both of Paso Robles. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2p.m. at the Norton Mortuary, with Rev. Axel Anderson, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Turlock Cemetery.

Final Rites Pending For Mrs. Lindstrom

Mrs. Christine B. Lindstrom, 85, Turlock resident for the past 32 years, died this morning in a Modesto hospital.

A native of South Dakota, Mrs. Lindstrom lived in Paso Robles before coming to Turlock in 1928. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lindstrom is survived by a daughter, Ruth Banta of Turlock; two sisters, Martha Samuelson of Turlock,and Nina Hanson of Oakland,and two brothers, Ed and Will Johnson of Paso Robles. She also leaves two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services are pending at the Allen Mortuary.

Thelma F. Parker, 77, of Camptonville died Saturday, Aug. 18, in Grass Valley.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services at this time.
Mrs. Parker was born on Sept. 22, 1923, in California to Walter and Ruth Haskell. She married George Parker on Dec. 7, 1942. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nevada City and Camptonville. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in North San Juan.
She is survived by her sons David Parker of Placerville, Neal Parker of Weaverville and Glenn Parker of Camptonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Nov. 13, 1993.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
