Walter Joos was a retired Major of the USAF who lived for many years in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County. He died there in about 1980, according to my father. "Uncle Walt" is my 2nd Great Grandfather's brother's son. My 1st cousin 3 times removed. He was one of the only relatives of my Dad's that I knew- and loved. I know he was something of a war hero, flew a B17 over Europe or something like that. I was quite young.
I am trying to find out what I can about him in hopes that this will lead me to more information about my 2nd great grandfather, Martin Joos who married Sophie Lowenguth in about 1888, supposedly died on Aug 30, 1935. The date of her death that I have is January 4, 1955. They lived in Crocket, Ca for several years. I haven't been able to find any documents on them.
