What mines or "diggings" were active in the Henley/Cottonwood area from 1860-1869? Does anyone know if payroll lists of these mines exist and how I could access them? Nancy Downs & husband Edward Overton came to Cottonwood ca 1852. Her sister Mary Ann Downs married John Bartol, a miner, in Cottonwood in 1862 and had 3 children. The Bartols left the area about 1869. I know nothing of the Overtons, other than their son was Major Watson Overton so any information about the Overton family would be appreciated also.
