Pioneer of Shasta Passes on Saturday --
Mrs. Ann
Crawford LEWIS, 89 years old, passed on Saturday morning at the home of her son,
Bert LEWIS, at
Stillwater. Altho a long time resident of
Shasta County, she had been the guest of a son in
Westwood for several years before returning to the LEWIS ranch on
Stillwater about 2 weeks ago.
Mrs. LEWIS was born in St. Louis, Mo., March 4, 1847. She had resided in
California the last 60 years, her husband, the late William LEWIS, devoting his time to ranching in
Shasta County.
Seven sons survive the pioneer: Joseph W. LEWIS and Alfred LEWIS of Sequim, Wash., Roy and
Homer LEWIS of Bend, Or., Harry LEWIS of
Stockton, Charles LEWIS of
Westwood and
Bert LEWIS of
Stillwater. There are 15 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are not complete. McDonalad & Scott are in charge.

Mrs. LEWIS to Be Laid to Rest Tuesday --
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the McDonald & Scott chapel for Mrs. Ann
Crawford LEWIS, venerable pioneer who passed on last week at
Stillwater.
Rev. Thomas B.W. ALLEN of the
Redding Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will be made in the family plot in the
Redding cemetery.

Funeral Is Held For Mrs. LEWIS --
Funeral services for Mrs. Ann
Crawford LEWIS, nonagenarian pioneer of
Shasta County, were attended Tuesday afternoon by her host of friends from all sections of the county. The chancel at the chapel of McDonald & Scott was banked high with floral tributes.
Rev. Thomas B.W. Allen, pastor of the
Redding Presbyterian Church, read the service and interment was made in the family plot in
Redding cemetery.
6 grandsons of the widely known and highly respected woman acted as pallbearers. They were Frank Albert, Charles, Douglas and
Dudley LEWIS and Wesley
AXTELL.
