Looking for any information on Sarah "Sadie" Glasser b. abt. 1890 in Sheridan, Montana. She never married and died in 1942 in Shasta Co., CA. She is on the 1920 census age 30 living with her mother & stepfather in Sheridan (Madison Co.) MT.
Also died 1986 in Shasta Co., CA was Sadie's sister Stella (Glasser) James.
Would like to find where these sisters are buried and where they lived there in Shasta Co.
Thanks for assistance.

Hi Pam,
It's odd but I didn't find where Stella or Sadie were living in 1930.

I assume you don't have their obituaries but just in case you don't, you can request them from Random Acts Genealogical Kindness. Some times obituaries will say where the person will be buried. Go to www.raogk.org, read guidelines, choose California and choose Shasta Co.

If that doesn't work out, there is also a volunteer at CAGenWeb Shasta County, www.cagenweb.com/shasta/lookups.html .

There are a couple of on-line cemetery indexes for this county.
Shasta County Resources, http://myclouds.tripod.com/shasta/shastaco.html

California GenWeb, www.cagenweb.com/shasta/cemetery/cemindex.html or precambrian51@yahoo.com .

You can reach the Shasta Genealogical Society at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cascogs/ who might have more cemetery info and hopefully the Shasta County/City Directories. Successful Searching!

I know I had replied to this posting before on November 28. I saved the draft. For Stella:

The Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness has a volunteer for obits:
http://www.raogk.org/californ4.htm
A local volunteer is your best bet.

The place to start to identify where Stella Marian James lived would be the County Recorder. The Shasta County Recorder has online documents. It shows six documents dated from 1947 (1), to 1966 (3), and 1969 (3). The last one concerned her estate, a Decree of Distribution. The Grantees were Phyllis Kingsbury and Charles O. James, Jr. (probably children). These documents (and the one identified below) are not available online, but can be obtained at the County Recorder's Office, 1450 Court Street, Ste. 208, Redding, CA 98001. Phone 530-225-5671.

The California Death Index shows:
Charles O. James, born 21 May 1885 in Texas, died 1 Nov 1960 in Shasta County, CA.
Charles Otto James (JR), born 2 Feb 1918 in Montana, died 12 May 1988 in Shasta County, CA, mothers maiden name Glasser. (This person enlisted in the Army on 8 April 1941, born 1918 in Montana, living in Shasta Co, He was a chauffeur/driver of bus/taxi/truck or tractor. Single)

The Shasta County Recorder has documents for Charles O, and Charles Otto Junior. A 1989 Decree of Distribution for Charles Otto Jr, has grantee of a Phyllis Kingsbury. She was his sister.

Thank you Judy,
We did find descendants of Stella Glasser James living in Shasta Co. who were very helpful with information and photo's.

I also did not find either Charles & Stella James, nor Sadie Glasser in 1830 census. The obit for their mother in Sheridan, Montana suggests they were over in Eastern Montana but I could not find them. In 1832 Sadie Glasser sold her portion of her mother's estate to the city of Sheridan and the current library is on that property now.
