does anybody know of this family. they are spread out from san jose to monterey to san francisco.I have heard that a dias married a buelna women possibly the daughter of antonio buelna.The buelnas can be traced back but where is the dias family. and the name was changed from dias to deas .

If i remember right because i have heard alot of family stories , there are alot of men named charles in that family.One charlie white wa in the san francisco fire department with my grandpa and the were related. he is also my dads godfather. that charles white is also the father of dan white who im sure you know killed the mayor of san francisco in the 1970s.

No, unfortunately I don't. If I did it would make things lots easier.

My grandfather (John Morgan Edwards) was married prior the woman he was married to at the time of his death, so he had a first wife whose first, middle or maiden name I don't know.

The only thing I can assume is that this marriage took place in California (probably Los Angeles) and Marjorie's birth in the same area. My grandfather came to California in 1910.

It's funny, because I can find everyone else but her! So it's very frustrating for me. But I will keep looking.

I'm having quite a time finding my great aunt within these resources. Her name was/is Marjorie Edwards (maiden name) and, at least as recently as 1955 she was living under that name in Palo Alto. She was not married in 1955, although she may have married after that date.

As best as I can tell, she was born in 1918, probably in California (but am not 100% sure).

I looked on the CA Death Records and there is a Babcock, Bertha who died 22 Aug 1960 in Sunnyvale. Born 10 Mar 1876 with maiden name of HIATT. If this is your person you have the wrong month.

For a small fee the Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogy Society will do an obit lookup.

Even though he died in Santa Clara, you might want to post on the SF County board. Most obits are placed in the newspaper closest to wear they lived. Check the S.F. Chronicle too.

The SCCHGS.org does obit look ups for a small fee.

I know the Cupertino Library has a number of City Directories old to present. However the format of some years has changed and you have to know the street where they lived. I forget the year when it stops listing by family name and only lists address and homeowners. I like the old historical City Directories. Maybe a librarian can do a look up for you?

I checked the SSDI and her last residence is Richmond, Contra Costa County. Usually people are buried and have an obit where they lived. I know the CA Death Records said she died in Santa Clara County, but if you don't find the obit in the San Jose Mercury News, you might try the Oakland Tribune or posting on the Contra Costa County board. For a small fee the SCCHGS.org will do an obit lookup in this county.

Errors in dates

I checked the SSDI and it lists the SS# as xxx-26-xxxx, not 20 for the middle number.
And I checked Legacy.com and did a "search obits" and it lists her death as April lst.

There could be some errors in data entry at these websites. Something to consider when looking for her obit. I see her last residence zip is 95127 in San Jose which is the closest to the Oak Hill Cemetery which is our oldest and main cemetery. Also, the SCCHGS.org does obit lookups for a small fee.

That's crazy, that would make your mom and my dad cousins ! He knows nothing about the Ferreira family, he did know the names of my Grandpa's brothers, but that was it.
If you want to give me your moms number that would be cool, I know my Dad would really get a kick out of it.

My Grandpa (Anthony) died back in 1985, I was pretty young and he never told anybody really where his family was from, so even his kids don't know to much about him. He had three kids Robert (Bob), Scott (dad), and Susan.

I just moved to Santa Clara, I don't know if you live around here, but if you do, maybe we can grab a coffee and see if we can piece together some of this history...and just meet ! ...I mean we're second cousins, right !?! :-P

That is all the San Jose Mercury News (on-line via Sunnyvale public library) had. Suggest you contact the funeral home - they might be able to tell you more detail or tell you if an obit appeared in any other newspaper. Funeral home is still in business, although the Spangler Mortuary has bought them and added Spangler to the name, just lately. Sue A.

Clara-What a thrill. I don't know if you are into genealogy but I have been working on mine on and off for fifteen years. I have a copy of a letter from my great grandmother (tom Ryan's first cousin) to Sophie discussing genealogy of the family-unfortunately not much info but did reveal that Sophie had an interest.

Sophie was the wife of Tom Ryan. Tom, the son of john and Mary Ryan, had a number of sisters. As far as I can tell he is the only one of the siblings who had a child. I have photos of Tom as an infant and a lttle boy. I have none of Sophie or Marie. Do you know if Marie ever married? Do you have any info on Tom, Sophie or Maire(can't find when Tom died), photos etc.?

I have a lot of info I would be willing to share on Ryans to include photos and history. If you have any thing I would be more than willing to pay espenses for copies and mailing etc.

Looks like the name morphed into Winegart.
There is a tree on ancestry that covers most all on your list. Lovetta is listed as Lauretta married Joseph Dupont. lived to be 100. (the tree came from DuPont researcher)
