Memorial services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Welch-Ryce-Haider for Esther Lillian Martin, 90, retired nurse, who died at her home at 900 Calle de lost Amigos after a brief illness. The Rev. Robert Cameron Miller will officiate. Mrs Martin died Saturday. Born May 16, 1892, at Cooperstown, N.D., she received a degree at the University of Minnesota. After working as a nursing supervisor and teacher, she served as an Army nurse in Germany during World War I. Later she worked in Panama, then at Pearl Harbor during World War II, and came to Santa Barbara in 1942. After the death of her husband, the Rev. Ivan G. Martin, in 1948, Mrs. Martin was a teacher and supervisor at Cottage Hospital until retiring in 1960. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Church Women United. Survivors include a sister, Ann Cherry of Santa Barbara; and two brothers, Edwin G. Burling of Santa Barbara and Richard Lockton of Overland Park, Kansas.
