Yes, Rosa was my grandfather's first wife and Joseph Heidinger was her father. She ran off wih Kempley, from the next county, (who had a wife and 5 children)and took Fred with her.
My grandfather was Henry Bentz and my Dad's father. Fred was born, Frederick J. Bentz in August 1898 in Clay County, Minnesota and the family moved to Todd County by the 1900 Census. My grandfather looked for him for years and finally in 1910 when he met my grandmother he filed for divorce charging desertion and was awarded custody, not that it did him any good. I have been looking for Fred for years under the name Bentz but of course to no avail. The name Heidinger led me to him finally through Ancestry.
Martha
