My grandmother, Mary Lincoln BROWN wed first Charles VARAIN of Marisposa Co, CA and moved with him to Merced Co. After they divorced she moved to southern California and there wed John A. LANE originally from Philadelphia, PA the son of Andrew and Agnes LANE. My mother, Dorothy Edith LANE was born circa 1914.

My grandmother had a half sister Margaret NORTHRUP who was listed as still living when grandmother did in 1945 or 1948. Margaret had wed Jerry BLADES of Missouri.

I would like to connect with any of my cousins descdened from BROWN, NORTHRUP, VARAIN, BLADES, LOSCH (Aunt Ida wed George LOSCH), SMITH (Aunt Hazel Horton Smith), HORTON, or POZZI

About 1874-76 Edmund Ivory's marriage notice was in the Stockton paper. I remember he was married at Jonas Ivory's house in Stockton even though there appeared to be no relationship. I recently found out Edmund's identity and now need his information for the book I am compiling. I must have located the notice by means of an index. Can someone who has access to the indexes and old newspapers for Stockton help me locate it?

According to authorities, Antifae shot Mrs. Agnes Denney, 19, in the back last Thursday when she was unable to tell him where he could find his wife, Paula, 39. In deep remorse, Antifae withdrew $1000 from his savings account and hired specialists to treat Mrs. Denney. She failed to rally, however.

Their son, Thomas Cornelius Winters, married Maudie Belle Hokett & had 12 or 13 children in OK. At least several of their kids went to CA either during or after the Depression &/or WWII. I need someone to please look up a marriage for a George Northam or O'Northam to a lady by the first name of Herminia. They would have been married between 1931 and 1933. Looking for any info on the Jacob family.

The father George St.Clair Jacob,wife Helene,their children:

George,Stella,Bertram,Charles,Pauline,Stanley,Lillian,Grant,Florence,Agnes and Helene Jacob.

Last name sometimes spelled Jacobs. Family lived in this area abt 1917-1930 and on.

I know Lillian Jacob had a daughter Ruth born abt 1924. Would like to know who Ruth's father was. I also know Lillan later married a Mr.Saddington.

I know some of the daughters (Lillian,Agnes and Helene) lived in the Stockton Orphanage in 1920 after their mothers death.

I know Agnes Jacob married a Mr.Day in the 1940's.

Any additional help would be greatly appreciated looking for these folks descendants.

One of my couisins, Nona Shaffer,
who died in 1908, is supposedly buried
in "Atlanta Cemetery" in San Joaquin Co..

Doing a little searching on the internet,
I've found a reference to the Atlanta Cemetery
at French Camp Rd and Jack Tone Rd.
And there is a small community called "Atlanta"
nearby.

So does anyone happen to know the exact
location of the "Atlanta Cemetery", and is have
any listings for who's buried there?
I'm trying to see if there are any of her relatives
there also, and prehaps, since it is not
very far from where I live, visit it.

Joh V. Sibole Sr., 93, of Lodi died Friday morning in a local convalescent hospital. A native of Ione. Mr Sibole moved to Tracy in 1918 and to Lodi in 1954. He was an enginer for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 47 years before retirement in 1963. He was a member of Ione Lodge #80, F & A.M. Stockton Scottish Rite Bodies, Ben Ali Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Tokay Shrine Club, Motherlode Shrine Club, and Stockton S.I.R.S Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Ella Sibole of Lodi; one son, John "Jack" Sibole Jr. of Lodi; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Gierhart - Wells & Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School St., Lodi, with Lodi Lodge #256 F & A.M. officiating. Burial will be private. Pearl Tallman was born in 1879 in MI. She died in San Francisco in 1966. She never married and she migrated with her family from MI to Ohio to WA to CA. In 1920 she is listed in the census of Spokane WA as a school teacher and is teaching typing at a business college. In 1930 she is listed as an inmate at Stockton Hosptial for the Insane in San Farancisco. What happened to this woman who was once a teacher that she wound up there? Bittner. Daniel was a minister. They were in ND up to the 1920 census, the 1930 census has them in Elkhorn. I am told

Gusetta West, 69, of Lodi, died Aug. 9 at a local convalescent hospital. She was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Ceres.

Mrs. West resided in Herald for 50 years, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed her cats.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Samuel A. West; daughters, Sandra Beglau, of Lodi, and Mary West, of Galt; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral was held Friday at Burwood.

Deegan Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Research Advice on Campbells of Ripon

I'm trying to find out anything I can about an ancestor named John H. Campbell. I have exhausted most resources so anything you could suggest would be much appreciated.

He was born in Ohio in in 1856 to Robert and Rachel Campbell. His wife's name was Anna. Together they had a daughter named Fleeta and a son named Fred. They spent some of their years in Kansas but moved to CA after 1900. In the 1910 Census, they were living in San Francisco and according to a family letter, they settled in Ripon, CA at some point after 1911. According to another letter dated 12/19/1918, John died shortly prior to that and I am trying to get an obit and death record and anything I can about the family. I'm also curious about the son because it appears that he died between 1900 and 1910 (according to the census).

Anything you could do to help me would be much appreciated.

According to the Carlifornia Death Records, Lewis Wright died in San Joaquin county 29 Dec 1948. The only census I've been able to find was 1900 when he was still in Michigan with wife Nellie and infant daughter Ruth. Something must have happened to Nellie and Ruth remained in Michigan. I am seeking any information on Michael A. D. Long, his wife Teresa Pauline, their children and descendants. I am also seeking any information available on the ancestry of Michael A. D. Long.

Michael, Pauline and their family were living in
Liberty Township of San Joaquin County, California when they were enumerated on 4 June 1880. Michael was a farmer. He and Pauline had six children living at home, Dora, Claude M., Edmond M., Charles M., William P., Narcissa B., and Annalizza. A boarder and farm hand, Jess Hopkins was also in the household.

In 1900 the family was in the Homestead Precinct of San Joaquin County. Pauline was then going by Teresa P.
A daughter, Nonnie V., which I believe was Narcissa, and a grandson, Elwood Long, were living in the household with Michael and Teresa. Michael is listed as a carpenter.

In 1910, Michael, now a widow, in living in the household of a daughter, Annie L. (Annalizza?), and her husband, Myers J. Gardner. Michael is listed as a mill wright for an iron works.

Michael A. D. Long was born in April of 1836 in Tennessee. His parents were apparently both born in North Carolina.

I believe that this Michael A. D. Long might be Arnzi Long, the son of Alexander Moore Long and Mary Ann Montgomery.

I am searching for death dates for Samuel Hall and Rachel Gray Hall, his wife. They appeared in the 1880 census in Dent, San Joaquin County. They had sons William K, Perry C, and Jesse B in their household. Another son, George S, appears in the 1900 census in San Joaquin county. I assume they died between 1880 and 1900. Dep. Joe Dodd Price, of Fresno county CA died in the line of duty March 13,1907. Fresno County is going to be honoring him in a ceremony March 13, 2007. We would love to have any descendants of the family there. They would more than likely be from his brother, Thomas S Price.

born 06 Jan 1914 Arkansas and died 25 Dec 1987. Last known residence per SSDI was 95242 Lodi, San Joaquin, California.

He married Katherine (Harden) Bradley, who was born
04 Aug 1908 Texas and died 16 Aug 1993. Per California death records she died in San Joaquin County, California.

Can somebody please help me find the maiden name of Mrs. Ada V. HUNTER? She died in San Joaquin county 26 September 1949. She was married to Robert HUNTER circa 1891 and divorced sometime before 1910, all probably in San Joaquin county.

Ada had two children that died young (her son, Samuel HUNTER, died in San Joaquin county on 1 March 1925).

Ada was recorded in the 1920 and 1930 census in the household of her ex-husband's sister, Mrs. Christina THOMPSON.

I am looking for info on Donald Ray Cox. He was born in columbus,ms. I believe his family moved to stockton,ca. Sometime before 1970. Donald died in shreveport,la around 1974. He was buried at lakewood cemetery in jackson,ms. He was a truck driver. His mother and 2 brothers were in ca at this time. Mother was named bessie Cox. Brothers were Jack and Pete Cox. Donald married Martha Graham and had a child around 1970 in rankin county,ms. Donald was married before and had other children. Some of those children may live in tn. Any info on this family is greatly appreciated.

William K. Walker, born 1834 TN, moved to San Joaquin Co

William K. Walker was the son of Elijah Walker, and the younger brother of my great great grandfather, Helton Rutherford Walker. He disappears from TN after the 1850 census, and was said to have gone "out west for the gold rush."
I have located a William K. Walker in O'Neal township of the 1880 San Joaquin County, CA, census. He is the right age, and was born in Tennessee - he even has the right middle initial. I believe this is indeed our William K. Walker, and would like to contact a descendant to compare notes.
In the 1880 census he is married to Bridget, who was born in Ireland. They have five sons: William H. (1868), George F. (1870), Charles F. (1872), Robert A. (1876) and Monty M. (1877). They may have had more children after 1880.
They cannot be located in the 1900 census, although their boys show up in some of the later census data - George in particular appears in every census through 1930. George married Nellie Welch, and the births of their children are listed in the CA birth index.
William K. Walker is listed in the 1878/78 directory for Stockton; he listed as W.K. Walker, lives in O'Neal township, is a farmer, and it further states that he moved to California in 1857, and to San Joaquin County in 1862.

Greetings! I would deeply appreciate any and all info on James Draper (1828 - 1904). We'd like to know when & why he immigrated to the US, and when he moved to Wisc. and/or Iowa? We'd like to know then, why, how, and with who he moved to CA? We would like to know, when he moved to CA, did he move directly to Lodi, or somewhere else first, and later to Lodi? And we would like to WHY he moved to Lodi, CA? Did he already have other relatives there? We would also like to know where he is really buried, as we have found gaves for this James Draper in both England and Lodi, CA! We would also like to know how the other people who are buried in his family plot are related to him: John Draper, Jabez Draper, Ann D. Matley, Henery Matley, ... and Fred J. Matley?

William McCreery m. Violet M. WYLIE of Elgin, Kane County, ILL., Wednesday, July 22,1885 at the home of Violet M. WYLIE's parents in Elgin., were wedded by Rev. Thomas Fluck, moved to California between 1895 or 1898 and lived in Stanislaus pioneers of Lanworth near Oakdale?

I'm trying to locate Triplett's in the Stockton, California area. George A. Triplett's father most likely was George Henderson Triplett. I would like to hear from any Triplett's to try to find the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Capt. William Triplett of Platte County, Mo. All of his children except for his daughter Virginia Elizabeth left for Calif. in the 1850's. One son, Black (Romulus Triplett) Triplett was killed near their home on Bee Creek in Platte Co. Mo. during the Civil War.
