SELDEN, Herbert Emory, Jr. -- 80, passed away January 8, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco. An unexpected and sudden illness silenced the beloved brother of Jack Stewart SELDEN; sister-in-law Marilyn SELDEN; nieces Jackie Gray (husband, David), Sydney Selden-Marsden (children Jan, Kay Marie and William); nephew Mark SELDEN (wife, Robin and children Samantha and Spencer). We are grateful that family members were at 'Uncle Bing's' bedside during his last moments. Bing was an integral part of our family and we will miss his humor and generosity. Herbert Emory SELDEN, Jr. served in the 57th Field Artillery Battalion from 1941 to 1945. He maintained the friendships established there and enlivened their reunions. Herbert had just finished writing his memoirs, poignantly and humorously chronicling this period of his life. Herbert retired from Westinghouse Corporation and proceeded to enjoy his time at home, his family and friends, golfing, and his pets. Three years ago Bing discovered new talents that he approached with enthusiasm. He began to write and experiment with poetry. We will cherish the poems that came to us from Bing; and keep him close when we recall his humor and kindness. A memorial service has been planned for Thursday, January 20, at 1:00 P.M. at the Columbarium located at One Loraine Court in San Francisco.
