S. F. Water Chief Kenneth Boyd Is Retiring
Kenneth R. Boyd, general manager of the San Francisco Water Department, announced to the Public Utilities Commission yesterday that he is retiring -- ending a 40 year career with the city.
PUC General Manager John Wentz said he was "dismayed at losing a talented and dedicated public servant on whose management and engineering judgement I have learned to rely."
Starting with the Hetch Hetchy system as a watershed worker, Boyd served as serviceman, plumber and general foreman before working his way up the water department's administrative ranks.
Boyd is 64. His slot will be taken over on a temporary basis by acting assistant general manager Eugene Kelleher.
