I just today heard the news of Pamela's passing and I instantly flashed back to the days of being buddies and dating while we attended Franklin High School in Seattle. She was an absolute doll with an amazing personality and sharing time with her was nothing short of hilarious. One of my closest friends to this day, Mark Walesby, dated Pam in high school and were known as the "coolest couple". I will miss her forever.

Kundinger Rites Slated
Russell R. Kundinger, 54, a retired Encinitas mail carrier, died Saturday in an Escondido Hospital.
Kundinger, of 1720 Barbara Lane, Encinitas, worked for the Post Office department for 14 years.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today and Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas. Burial will be Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside.
Kundinger was born in Chicago, Ill. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Carlsbad, a past president of the Holy Name Society of St. John's Church, Encinitas Grange, and a past officer and charter member of San Luis Rey Council, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his widow, Katherine M.; three sons, Thomas R. and William, both of Encinitas, and Robert M., who is with the Air Force in West Germany; four grandchildren, and a sister in Illinois.

I am pleasantly surprised to find this information, my grandmother is Anna (van der Bleek) Hoekstra. Anna was married to Henry W. Hoekstra on 19-Jul-1902. Together they had 9 children, 2 are still living. Anna died on 25-Feb-1953 in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota.

The San Diego Union, b 10, Wednesday, March 12,1980
Thomas S. Thompson, 83,a Realtor and former director of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, died Monday.
He was born in Huron, S.D., and later moved to Pueblo, Colo., where he ran his own advertising company.
After he moved to San Diego in 1935, he was employed by the Union Tribune as an advertising representative.
In 1937, Mr. Thompson went into work for the Security Title Insurance and rose to the position of vice president. He was a director of the San Diego Realty Board from 1959 to 1964.
In the late 1960's he formed T.S.Thompson Reality in La Jolla.
He was graduated from Colorado College,in Colorado Springs and served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
Mr. Thompson was director of the Chamber of Commerce in 1958 and served on the Mayor's General Plan Review Committee. He was a member of the Optimist Club of La Jolla and the Society of Residential Appraisers.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret W: son, Thomas S. of Little River; a brother Foster, living in Oregon; two grand children, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

William August Theodore KNOP & Ethel (LOUTHAN) KNOP - obits anyone?

Looking for obits and/or any info on this couple.

William August Theodore KNOP was b. 29 July 1880 in Iowa and d. 1 Feb 1949 in San Diego.

Ethel Eugena (LOUTHAN) KNOP was b. 16 Mar 1882 in Iowa City, Johnson Co., Iowa, and d. 10 Jan 1943 in San Diego.

The last I can find them is in the 1940 Census. They were living on Camino Del Rio in San Diego, San Diego Co., California, Shows him as "William," 59 and Ethel, 58. Shows William to be a "proprietor manager" of a hotel.

Hi Michelle,

I've found several people in the CA Birth Index who were born in San Diego around the same time with the last name Simms and mother's maiden name Erving/Ervin -- might be his siblings.
They are:
Leon Simms, 16 Feb 1939, MMN Ervin
Gene Arthur Simms, 19 Nov 1943, MMN Erving (died in 1984)
Don Simms, 25 Jul 1945, MMN Ervin
Lerry Alvin Simms, 1 Nov 1948, MMN Ervin

I found Leon in the 1940 Census, living in San Diego with his mother Emma Simms and grandfather 'Gardia Ewin'. According to that census, Emma was born in Texas around 1916 and her father was born in Texas around 1896. It indicates that they were living in Live Oak, Hunt, Texas in 1935.

OK, I've found Gardie's death record. Full name Gardie Vernice Ervin, born 18 Dec 1894 in Texas, died 31 Mar 1959 in San Diego. There's a WWI draft card for him and some veteran's stuff (he's buried at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery), but I haven't been able to find him in any earlier census records.

I haven't foumd a death record for Emma. She might have remarried. I did find several articles in the SD Union (through GenealogyBank.com) about an Emma Simms, who had a run-in with the law in 1962.

Hope that helps. Please keep in mind that this is all guesswork. The people I've found might not be the Simms/Irvings you're looking for. Hopefully, the birth certificate you've sent for will be more definitive.

Weldon Jackson Bailey, the husband of Yacui, lived in San Ysidro at the end of life.
I read about it in a genealogy site. He seems to have died in 2008.

Arnell Bailey was the wife of Weldon E. Bailey.
The husband of Yacui was Weldon J. Bailey. This J., I believe, meant - Weldon Jackson Bailey.

Yacui's relatives are the only people who can enlighten me what has happened to Georgina Pires Sampaio, Suzy King.

Weldon would have left relatives in San Diego?
That's what I need to know.

Terry Simms born 2 Aug 1946 San Diego County CA. Mothers maiden name Irving. Died 6 Aug 1981 Boston Massachusetts. Death Cert # 005714.

Hello

My name is Michelle and I am looking for any information on my dads Terry Simms family. He is from San Diego CA and was born 8/2/1946. I believe he had 3 brothers and 1 sister. His mothers maiden name I think was Irving. My dad had relocated to Boston MA sometime in the late 60s. I have just requested his birth certificate but hoped someone might have ideas on other ways to get information.
