His father was Anthony "Jerry" Jeremiah, he died on 6-6-1992 (of a broken heart according to my Grandpa). His mother was Adelini Lopez Jeremiah.

my uncle, Richard H Mahon, was born in NY on 3/5/1892. He died 7/27/1963 in Orange, CA. I was overseas at the time of his death and since I've begun my family tree can find no obituary for him that was kept by any of the other family members.

His wife, at the time of his death, was Mary. He'd been previously married to a woman by the name of Florence and had a daughter but I've been unable to find information about the first family as well.

I'd appreciate any outside help on this.

I am searching for the family of Francis M. McFADDEN who died in LA, but resided in Westminster, Orange Co., California in 1967. In the 1930 census, he was living in Long Beach, L. A. Co., CA with wife Marian B. and stepson Raymond Brown.

Francis was born in Pennsylvania 23 Dec. 1895, then lived in Lorain Co., Ohio until sometime between the 1920 and 1930 census. He was born Francis Marion McALLISTER, son of Francis R. and Anna Jane (TURNER) McALLISTER, but took the surname McFADDEN in CA. His brother Edward Hill McALLISTER also lived in California, and was a Navy veteran.

I have searched for an obituary for him, with no luck so far. I would like to find any children that he might have had, his wife's maiden name, and where he was buried.

Willing to share what I have on his family. Would be grateful for any help on this.

On 6 Dec 1975, or there abouts, my cousing Sherre Miller (nee Roewert) was found dead on a beach in Orange County. I'm told that her young son was found dead in a boat, and her husband, Stephen Miller was never found. I'm looking for an obituary, and hopefully a news paper article about this tragedy. Sadly I didn't hear about this until last fall. I had not seen my cousin Sherre since the mid 60s. If anyone who frequents a library where an obit and/or a news paper article might be found, I'd be really grateful for a look-up.

Frances Romero, born in CA.
12/28/1909 she married Charles Granville Meserve by a Justice of the Peace. Her place of residence was listed as Huntington Beach, his Santa Ana. Her age was listed as 16 years old, which would have made her birth year 1893.
She next pops up in the 1920 US Census, Orange County. The census states her father was born in CA, and her mother was born in Spain. Says she was 24 at that time which makes her birth year 1896.
So she was born between 1893-1896.

She had five children with Charles:
Muriel, Melba, Barbara Frances, Charles, Stanley.
On Barbaras birth certificate it lists her mother as Mexican, although she and her father were born in CA, and her mother was born in Spain.

Her and Charles divorced between 1920-1930. Charles remarried a Dorothy, and they are in the 1930 census. (My grandmother Barbara confirmed Dorothy was her step mother, but unfortunately can remember nothing else – shes well in to her 90’s now!)

I believe that Frances passed away in the 70’s. I remember meeting her when I was REALLY young, and have a pic of her.

She always seemed to live in Orange County.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF THIS FRANCES, OR HOW I CAN OBTAIN MORE INFO ON THIS ELUSIVE WOMAN?

Funeral services will be at 3 p. m. Saturday in Cyprus, Calif., for Robert D. Mulkins, 45, a former Waterloo resident who died there Monday of a heart attack. He had lived in California since 1952. He was born May 24, 1923, in Spring Valley, Minn., and in June of 1945 married Lorraine Wasserfort in Waterloo. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was employed at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works.

I am searching for the descendents of Clarence Barnett. I have very limited knowledge about him but do know that his mother was Adeline (nee Easton) born in 1888, England and died in early 1982 somewhere in the USA possibly in Oregon. His father was Rex or Reginald.

Clarence was born between 1912 and 1921 in America. He married a Betty and his youngest daughter was called Debbie.

He also had a sister called Yvonne, born sometime in the 1920's.

Looking for Sylvia or decendents of them. Forrest is the son of Jacob B & Bessie Richardson. Jacob is the son of Doran W & Mary M Richardson, who lived in Oskaloosa, IA in the 1910's, where my GG Grandfather LaFayette Richardson died while living with Doran. Doran lived next door to Jacob in 1920 census in Cooper, Kiowa County, OK. Doran must have died between 1920 - 1930. In 1930, I find Jacob & Bessie, and also Mary M Richardson, living in Orange County, CA. I am hoping that someone in Forrest's family might have old family photos of the Richardson, hopefully including that of my lost GG Grandfather LaFayette.

Searching for death record for Adin William(s) last in census in 1880 in Santa Ana CA (then LA County) living in household of son Adin, age 26, farmer and son Alexis, age 30.

The senior Adin was born in 1810 in NY to Simeon Williams and Tirzah Knight (?) and raised in Indiana. In the 1860 census he was a 51 year old widower living in Iowa, Cedar County, Iowa Twp, with daughters Amanda and Mary and son Dyer.

I have requested death certificates with the 1880-1890 range from both Orange and LA counties with no results (but LA county was insistent that Santa Ana is in Orange County, even though I explained that in 1880 it was in LA county.

Victor Leroy Finster

Funeral services will be held at Fairhaven Mausoleum at 2pm Tuesday for Victor Leroy Finster, 73, 1060 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, who died Mar 12, in St Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr Finster lived 72 years in Orange County, where he was a cement contractor. With his father he laid cement work on the County Courthouse which is still standing in later life he was associated with Standard oil and the Irvine Co.

Surviving are a son, Victor Leroy Finster of Burbank; a brother, F E Finster of Balboa; two sisters; Mrs Edna DeWolfe of Costa Mesa and Mrs Lena Shevlin of Irwin, Calif; two grandchildren; Victor Leroy Finster III and Grant Henry Finster, both of Burbank.

The Rev Jay Campbell of the United Presbyterian Church of Burbank will officiate. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under direction of Smith and Tuthill Mortuary.

I am grasping at straws on my search for Claude R. Sprowls. (middle name could possibly be Richard). Claude was born 1901 in Washington Co.,PA, son of John A. Sprowls and Ida (Carroll) Sprowls. (after Johns death in 1914 Ida married Howard Evans, in Arvada, Colorado.
In 1947 Claude R. Sprowls was in Reno Nevada and arrested and returned to Fullerton, California for fraud. check charges. I believe this Claude could be son of John and Ida. At time of mothers death in 1940's Claude was supposedly still in California, as there had been correspondence up to this point. I have found a SSDI record for a Claude Sprowls who died in NJ in 1977, but unsure of that Claude, as there was another family in that area.
Anyone willing to search thru some court house records for the surname SPROWLS (often misspelled as Sprowles, Sprowels, Sprouls and Sprawls). I am willing to cover your expenses or even an hourly fee. I just need to prove/disprove and try to cover all bases.
I do not know if he ever married or had children. Any info will be helpful. Marriage/divorce/death/intestate filing/ childrens births/burials - anything. Thank you so much.

Morrison, Lt. Robert M., Huntington Beach Police Department (ret.), passed away Saturday, March 8th 2008 at his son's home in Petoskey MI. at the age of 77. A long-time resident of Huntington Beach, CA, Bob moved to Petoskey in December 2007 to be with his family. Bob was born on October 18th, 1930 in Windsor, Colorado. During the Korean War Bob enlisted and served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. After being discharged he settled in Compton, California where he attended college and then began a career in law enforcement as a patrolman for the City of Compton. He later served in the Juvenile Bur. and ended his career in Compton as a Homicide Investigator. In 1966 Bob accepted a position with the Huntington Beach Police Department. Bob founded the Aero Bureau for the City of Huntington Beach in 1969 and managed it for the next 20 years. Bob retired from H.B.P.D. in 1989. He served as an early President of the national Airborne Law Enforcement Assoc. and served on its Bd. of Dir.'s for many years. A memorial service will be held at the Robert M. Morrison Heliport in Huntington Beach, CA. on April 4th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Huntington Beach Search & Rescue Post #563. I am trying to locate descendants of the ARKUSH and MANLEY families who might be able to help me. In the Norwich NY library, I found an older photocopy of a fading family bible record. One line follows:

Herbert Hovey MANLEY b. 1857 in MN, who ended up in Chicago then San Gabriel.

His daughter Dorette MANLEY b. 1889 married Ellis John ARKUSH. They lived in Redwood City, Hillsborough, and Burlingame.

They had Ellis John ARKUSH Jr. b.1914 and Carol Doris ARKUSH b.1915.

Ellis John ARKUSH Jr. married Laura Pearson and had daughter Sharon. He passed away in Newport Beach in 1994.

Carol Doris ARKUSH married Robert ETIENNE and had children Robert Jr, Dorelle, and John Roger.

The reason I'm trying to track this line is that the bible record was contributed by a Helen Nicol Tanois(?) of Burbank. I have written to the address given and have not received either an answer or returned letter. The name and address are handwritten and a little hard to decipher. There are parts of this bible record that are just unreadable, and I would love to track down whoever might own the bible to see if the bible record could be re-scanned with today's modern tech. This California line is not directly related to me, but the line from an ancestor is. Grateful for any clues!

Olive Lavinia Rosecrans died in the county Nov. 25, 1983. Her mother's maiden name is given as Hickling. We do not have a family record of her husband's first name or where he was from. Wondering if an obit is available to fill that in.

I am looking for someone who lives in Orange County, California to do a lookup of a Obituary for me and quite possibly a photo of her tombstone. I am unable to travel to the area and have tried online to find what I need and it is not avaliable:

I am not sure but beleive she may have lived in Anaheim.

I do not know where she was buried. All I know about her I have listed above, this is my husbands maternal grandmother. We also have been told that she commited suicide so would like to know for sure, if possibly there may be some write up of it in the local papers around the time that she died. Short of requesting her death certificate we have no way of finding out. Will gladly pay all copy postage costs...etc. This is the second time I have posted this request, I really hope someone out there can help me.

Kenneth Roosevelt COLE was born 2 Nov 1901 in Painesville, Lake Co, OH & died 27 Aug 1978 age 76 yrs in Los Angeles. He married 17 Apr 1925 in Lake Co, OH Helen Inez FOSHAY born 20 May 1905 in OH. Her mother was (Ruth?) GREER and her father's name may have been E. Fowler FOSHAY. Helen Cole died 22 Sep 1988 at age 83 yrs in LOS ANGELES. Their last known residence was Laguna Hills, Orange Co, CA 92653.
Kenneth COLE was a pilot & he attended the same flight school in the Army Air Corps as Charles LINDBERGH. Kenneth served in WWI as a pilot and returned with a surplus Jenny trainer (airplane). He owned and ran school of aviation in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1930's; was influential in the start of the Cleveland Ohio Airport & worked in the aviation industry for years. Sometime in the late 1930's he outfitted a Curtis Robin airplane and flew non stop with his wife Helen and son, Richard COLE to Los Angeles, CA. I was told they lived for many years in Santa Monica and Kenneth COLE went into the manufacturing of plastics (he owned a plastics molding business).

His son, Richard COLE born 1931 in Lake County, Ohio, and I was told Richard died in his teens [abt 1948-49?] in some kind of an accident in Hawaii. Richard COLE probably attended school(s) in Santa Monica or in Laguna Hills, Orange Co, CA or in Los Angeles - and would probably have been in the class of 1948 or 1949. I am looking for the family of Earl and wife Pearl (Sherwood) Carter.

I received the following information from the Santa Ana, California City Directories:

Pearl Marion Sherwood—Pearl lived at 1918 N Broadway from 1912-1913. Also in residence at the same address were John R and Addie L Doerr.

Earl E. and Pearl M Carter—Earl was a restaurant proprietor (located by the P.E. track) He and Pearl resided at 808 E. Third St from 1913 to 1914.

Pearl Marion Sherwood is the only daughter of Orin and Lillian (Stevenson)SHERWOOD. She lived in Wisconsin in 1910 and was in California in 1912. Her aunt Jessie (Sherwood) Brewster was living in California also. She had a brother Allen Jesse Sherwood.

Pearl and Earl Carter had a daughter Irene and she was found on the 1920 census with her grandparents Orin and Lillian. I have a postcard of her with her cousin Loren Sherwood which is attached.

Ancestry found a California death record 11 Jun 1980
Sacramento, California for a woman I believe is the one I am looking for.

Would love to find her family and share pictures/stories. This is the only branch that I am missing and would love to find the descendants.

Further to my previous message requesting obit lookup on Irene (nee Crouse) I have now found the married name which is Willoughby.
Irene married Paul A Willoughby in the year of 1956 Braintree Essex England.
Paul Willoughby was an American Serviceman stationed at Wethersfield airbase.

I do hope this information will help to find when Irene died.

I am trying to identify the time period that a picture of Bennie Wallace Williams was taken, had to be before 1950. The picture shows two people in Sailor suits (the suits appear to be prior to WWII) on the back of a train. The sign on the train says "All Aboard Frisco 25493" The picture was taken at Soldi Studio, 411 S Main St., Los Angeles, CA. Does anyone know when this studio was in existance?

They were originally from Braunton in Devon England, moved to Neath, Wales in 1860s them emigrated to Lake Harvey & Burrton in Kansas in the 1870s.

The children then moved to the LA area in the 1930s.

There is a Eulah Harrison on the SSDI who was born June 11, 1907 and died October 20, 1999. I have been unable to locate an obiturary for Eulah and am searching for someone who knew her and/or someone in her family. I am interested in knowing if this Eulah Harrison was born in Oklahoma and was the daughter of Ellen Harmon and Robert Arnold. At one time she may have been married to a Mr. Hallam/Hallum. When Ellen Harmon Harrison(Eulah's mother) died in 1953 she was survived by a daughter Mrs. Eulah Hallam of Avenal, California. Trying to find any info available on Justine C. Campbell Hummell Rollins and hopefully get in touch with her family. She was born February 1, 1921 in Ohio. I know her father's name was Guy E. Campbell but I don't know anything about her mother. Her first husband must have been named Hummell and she married Lester L. Rollins on October 22nd, 1971 in Orange County. She died November 12, 1976 also in Orange County.
