Thanks so much for recapping the information that you have.
I have most of this information. However, I am confused about a few things. I do know that there were two James Gallagher families in Nevada County during those years.
You mention a Francis Gallaher, Naturalized October 5, 1868, with a brother Frank. I do not know who this is. Maybe he is my James Francis Gallagher's father, who we know had a brother with the name Frank.
There is another Francis Gallagher Naturalized 10/13/1855 according to a book entitled, "Nevada County Vital Statics" written by David Compstock that I do not know who this is either.
Also our Uncle Peter Gallagher's does have a brother named Frank and I think to a sister named Ann is mentioned in Peters will, which I received a copy and I agree it is very difficult to read.
I am sure that my great grandmother Lucinda Cota (wife of James Gallagher) was named after her Aunt Lucinda Cote, wife of Mitchel Cota. Mitchel was brother to Julia, Tharsile and Narcisse (Nelson) Cote who were all born in Canada.
Narcisse Cote was married to Marie Phillomena Morris (Morrissc) in New Hampshire in 1859. They owned and operated the saloon in Nevada City now known as the
I, Barbara, am the great gandaughter of James Fracis Gallgher. Mamie Gallagher, was the oldest daughter of James and Lucinda (Cota) Gallagher. Mamie had 3 daughters. the oldest was my mother Evelyn Marie Stone Reed.
I did not locate a grave for my great Grand parents James and Lucinda Gallagher when I visited Grass Valley years ago. They are supposedly buried at the new Catholic Cemetery. A picture would be greatly appreciated.
Still hoping to locate my Great Uncle Peter who left Nevada County to go into the Merchant Marines.
Thanks for all your help. My email address is andertow@pacbell.net
