Rose Acosta, 67
Farmer and rancher

Rose Linda Acosta, a 50-year Merced resident, died Wednesday in an Atwater hospital. She was 67.

Mrs. Acosta was born in Kansas City, Mo. on May 1, 1930. She worked in the resturant business and was a farmer and rancher. The family truck farmed their produce for 35 years to the Farmer's Market in South San Francisco.

According to her family she enjoyed reading, fishing, music, watching old movies and sports. She also liked crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Mel Acosta, Jr.

Survived by her husband, Melicio Acosta of Merced; six sons, Vic Acosta of Sacramento, Joe Acosta of Spring Valley, David Acosta of Portville, Marcellino Acosta of Woodland, Richardo Acosta of Sulsun and Ben Acosta of Merced; 17 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Visitation will be Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Chapel. A rosery and chapel blessing will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
