Whitcomb family connection to Frosts in Little Lake

I am looking for help with links between the Whitcombs of Mendocino County (early of Redwood Valley, later of Fort Bragg, Westport, Branscomb and Laytonville) and the Frosts of Little Lake, Eden Valley or Willits.. My dad, Clair "Whit" Whitcomb referred to his aunt,a Frost (maybe Elizabeth?) who was involved in a "cattle and sheep war" in Little Lake or Eden Valley in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Yes, this is the same Frost family as in the Frost and Coates infamous fued. My recollection from my dad's story is that his grandmother, Kathryn Whitcomb who was married to Ethelbert Whitcomb (a stage driver over the Sherwood Road in the 1890's until 1902 when he died in a fiery stage accident) may have been a Frost or a Starkey of Eden Valley. There are no Whitcomb's left with the exception of myself and my niece and nephew so I'm hoping that someone in Willits or Ukiah with access to the wonderful information in the Mendocino Co. Historical Society files can help to shed some light on this part of my family history. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Janet
