Executive secretary
Jean Welch Young of Dixon, a former Forest Knolls resident, died after a short illness Saturday, March 30, 1991. She was 73.
A native of San Francisco, she lived with her family during the 1920s in Forest Knolls. She relocated to San Francisco in 1943.
She worked for many years as an executive secretary for Fairchild Electronics in Santa Clara and retired in 1983.
She was a member of the Dixon Women's Improvement Club, Dixon Garden Club, Dixon Historical Society and Prairie Quilters.
She also volunteered her skills in computer entry and cataloging at public television station KVIE, channel 6, in Sacramento and Fairfield High School in Fairfield.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Peck of Dixon and Sara Duggin of Kentfield; one brother, James Welch of Santa Clara; five grandchildren; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dixon Senior Center.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions to KVIE in Sacramento or to the Nature Conservancy in Arlington, Va.
Neptune Society in Sacramento handled the arrangements.
