I am looking for information about my ancestors, descendants of James Henry Lee and Leola Everett Lee, both born in Mitchell County, Georgia. James was born in 1891 and Leola Everett was born in 1917. They were both in Los Angeles County, CA by the 1920 census. James Lee was a cabinetmaker and I believe that they had 3 daughters. Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Parents of James Lee were Joseph Parry Lee and Eula Harper of Georgia. Leola's parents were Samuel Thomas Everett and Annie Lawson Lawrence of Mitchell County, GA.

would sks go to Norwalk and look for this marriage record for me? I'm no longer living in California, so I can't go there, myself.
I know he is married by 1920 to a Mary, but I know very little else regarding their marriage.
what I do know is this. he was still in Brawley, Imperial Co., California in 1913, and in Los Angeles for the 1920 census, so that narrows the marriage to a 6 or 7 year time frame. I had hoped the California voter's registrations would narrow it down further, but only 1916 and 1920 show up for Thomas Moore in Los Angeles Co. at Ancestry. on dial up it will take some time to go through them, which I don't have at the moment.

Donah Colleen Tetrick, 83, of Benge Drive, Elkin, died on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at her home.

Born in Long Beach, California on July 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Worth and Grace Donahue Lyon.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Elkin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Her husband, Lawrence Oliver Tetrick, preceded her in death in 1997.

Mrs. Tetrick is survived by four sons: Ronald L. (Linda) Tetrick of Pleasant Hill, Ca., Timothy L. (Linda) Tetrick of Dobson, Oliver W. (Diane) Tetrick of Elkin, and Richard B. Tetrick of Long Beach, Ca.; four daughters: Linda A. (Robert) Specht of Wilkesboro, Connie M. (Jerry) Wilmoth of Elkin, Rebecca Tetrick of Pleasant Hill, Ca., and Lorreen O. Tetrick of Mt. Airy and 7 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tetrick was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lyon.

The service to celebrate Mrs. Tetrick's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 2 p.m. at the Elkin Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with David Henton officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 688 Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.

Rebecca Hammon Jump who died in Los Angeles county in 1951

I am trying to find anyone who might be connected to Rebecca Hammon Jump. She died December 20, 1951 in LA County, about age 66. A small newspaper death notice states her funeral service was at Utter-McKinley at Compton but the burial location was not given. I have not yet obtained a copy of the death certificate so I do not know where she's buried. I'm not sure if Hammon was actually her maiden name or her 1st husband's name. She married George Jump (an individual in my family tree) in 1930 in Oklahoma where they lived for awhile. I believe they divorced in 1938 in Oklahoma. I do not know why or when she moved to California.

is similar to the Harrison FOX in the FOX line I am researching. I have considerable information on the FOX line I am researching. However, I can not trace the Harrison of this FOX line past the 1880 census, except for this Imperial Co information. seeking 1890 city directories, other sources for Young Family

I am in the process of researching my paternal grandmother's maternal side of the family, and I need information on her grandmother, Anna Young (Nee' Roycroft or raycroft).

Anna is found in the 1880 census with her husband Andrew Yung, living in Oakland California. However, by the 1900 census she is deceased and Andrew is listed as the widoewed head of household. During the 1900 censu he is living in Alameda, Califrnia. Living with him is his unmarried daughter Emma Young, His married daughter Annie Baker, son in law William baker, and grand children Andrew baker, Paul Baker, Elizabeth Baker.

Since my grandmother's maternal grandmother died sometime betweeen the 1880 and 1900 censuses, and the 1890 census was destroyed, I need a city directry or other source for 1890, that can giveme some assitance in figuring out when my grandmother's maternal grandmother Anna Young died.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I'm searching for a DAVID MASON b. 1872 TX to WM. RANDOLPH MASON & LUCINDA "Lu Sendy" WEEKS MASON who were mrd. Bastrop County, TX in 1857. My uncle told me that he talked with someone in the family of this David Mason about some family history, at that time the MASON family were living in the Los Angeles area and was connected somehow to a career in the movie business. I've been trying to locate some member of this family for about 10 yrs. now, the uncle has died and so can't get info. from him. This DAVID MASON is a brother to my great grandmother, GRACIE ELIZABETH MASON RICKS and though I know I'm grasping for straws, am hoping that someone can help me find some info. on this family, it's my only hope of finding info. for my Mason family history that I'm working on. Ed and Rosetta had several children, two of which were named John and Edd

Alex and Hannah had several children, one of which was Katie.

Edd and Katie married in Texas and had 10 children in all, including Hannah, John, Oretha, Curtis, LV, LT, and LG.

Edd's brother John was married, first, to Mattie, then to Roxie Hicks, his children include John, Edd, Josie, Jeff, Taft, William Ben (W.B.), and Louis.

I am looking for information on Charles Irwin Douglas MOORE, born 1865 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. He married Maude Emily ?? in 1893, possibly in Los Angeles since he moved to the US in 1891 according to the censuses. They had two children, Douglas EC MOORE born 1895 and Rutherford D MOORE born 1899. I am looking to find out when Charles ID MOORE died-he doesn't appear in the 1940 and onwards death index so assume he died sometime between 1930 and 1940 as he appears on the 1930 census in Los Angeles. He worked for the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company of California. The familyy can be found on the 1900-1930 censuses living in Los Angeles.

Any information on the family would be greatly appreciated.

I know that my gggrandmother married name was Rose/Rosie Moore. She was married possibly to an Andrew Jackson or Andrew Jackson Moore between 1875-1880 in California.
Her daughter Birdie Moore (born 1880 in CA) married William Conn and had a son Adrian Stewart (Ace) Conn.
She then married George Edward Allen and had 4 girls
Juliette A Allen who changed her name to Ruth Juliette and married John Garfield McLean.
Mildred Bernice Allen who married a Purkey
Thelma Isabelle who married a Purkey
Georgia Lee Allen who married several times.
Rose's daughter Lucy Moore (born 1885 in Lake County California) married George W Amy in Dec 1903/04.
They had 4 children, two boys and two girls. I know the outcome of the boys but haven't gotten a lot about the girls yet.
The first dtr was Kathleen Octavia Amy who married a Weyant.
The second was Patricia Elinor Amy who married a Minger.
Rose had a son Charles (born betw 1880-1882 in CA) whom we know nothing about.
Rose had a daughter Jenny (born 1887 in CA) whom we know nothing about.
I have several family pictures from my late grandmother's photo albums that I can't identify and wonder if there are any distant relatives that would recognize any of these people attached below.
To our knowledge all of these pictures would have been taken in the L.A. area of California.

I would like to get a copy of my grandparents marriage certificate. My grandparents are Charles U. Waters and Thelma L. Earney. They were married between January - March in either 1944 or 1945 in L.A. My grandmother isn't sure of the exact date (this was actually their second marriage. The first was done in a different county but the officiant who performed the ceremony never turned in the paperwork to that county.)

Is there an index where I could find the actual date and certificate number so that I can order a copy?

Or, even better, do any of the Los Angeles area FHC's have the L.A. marriage films on permanent loan so that somebody could print me a copy?

LA Creamatory Question

Death certs for my two Gr Grandparents stated they were buried at the LA Creamatory. They died in 1907 & 1924. A reply to a phone call to the Creamatory does not have them listed as being buried there. The creamatory employee said they did not creamate until 1922. Their obits states services were held at the LA Creamatory Chapel.
Any ideas where they may have been buried? Any history to the Creamatory?

I am looking for the obits of Grover Kemp and his wife Fonda Coy Kemp in Los Angeles Co, CA, both on 10 Oct 1947. They were killed in a car crash that day. This story may have made front page news in a Los Angeles Co newspaper. I am not certain that this couple actually resided in Los Angeles Co at the time of their crash/death, which was reported to have occurred between Inglewood and Bakersfield. However, I do think they were actual residents of the county.

I am trying to find a death record for Florence Mabel (Florence M) Burge (nee Newman) who emigrated from England with her family in 1888 to San Bernardino, California and married Charles A Burge on the 3 January 1901 in Los Angeles.

They had a son, Vivien C Burge, who was born on the 24 November 1902 and who died in Los Angeles on the 28 February 1970. Vivien's wife was named Ethel and they had a daughter Lucille Maria, born about 1925, who married Harold Freeman on the 12 March 1949.

On the 1910 US Census Charles A Burge is shown as a widower living with his young son Vivien. Does anyone know how I can find the date of death of the mother, Florence Mabel (Florence M) Burge who apparently died between the 24 November 1902 and the date of the 1910 census 16 April 1910?

You mention of Mabel Batson caught my eye. The wife of William Oscar Batson was Mabel Bagwell and this may be your Mabel Batson if the dates match. She was born June 13, 1889, died August 23, 1947. If she had a sister named Lucille it would have to have been a sister in law.

I am writing a history of the Batson family that lived in Transylvania County, North Carolina. A group from this family moved to the Whittier area sometime between 1905 to 1911. William Oscar Batson (Oct. 6, 1883, d.Mar. 5, 1937) had moved to the Whittier area and earned enough money working at a dairy to purchase five acres of land. An oil company subsequently discovered oil on his property and made him a wealthy man. He returned to Transylvania County, North Carolina in about 1910 to marry his childheart sweetheart, Mabel Bagwell (Jun 13,1889, died Aug 23,1947), who he took back to California along with his mother, Sarah C. Batson and several of his brothers and sisters.

I am in touch with the descendants of Homer Newton Batson, one of the aforementioned brothers, but they know nothing of the living descendants of William Oscar Batson, who I would like to contact about exchanging information.

William Oscar Batson had two sons, both now deceased. They were William Paul Batson (b. Feb 3, 1911, d. Dec. 14. 1978), and John Hobart Batson (b.May 1, 1913, d.Apr 7, 1994).

They lived in Montebello, Los Angeles County.
After Fred died, Cleo actually remarried to Clinton David Snyder (have his obit), & they actually lived in Montebello as well, moving to Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo County, CA, in 1979. I would think at least Fred's &/or Cleo's obit is in a Montebello paper, but might be in Arroyo Grande area. Can't find anything in San Bernardino for Cleo. Mr. Snyder is buried at Rose Hills Memorial Burial Park in Whittier, LA, CA, but not sure about Cleo or Fred.

Looking to find out what cemetery Roy Emerson was buried?? He died on 5 Aug 1980 in Los Angeles, CA. He also went by "Bud" and his middle name might of been Jesse. His date of birth is 18 Mar 1904, IL. His wife's name was Pearl Marie Olson. His Parent's names were Porter and Annie.

Hello,

I am looking for information on an ancestor who left NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA in 1887, he had 2 wives, one was BELLA MITCHELL d. 1903 no children and the second was FRANCES VIOLA MCDOWELL (1880-1941) they had 5 children.

John David McLeod acquired 75 acres (1893) at the present intersection of VALLEY and SAN GABRIEL BLVD. John David was a contracter and house builder and later became director of two banks and had 200 feet of buisness frontage occupied by stores.

I hope that perhaps someone might be able to connect me with anyone related or who might be able to access some old land records, buisness records and the jackpot would be an old photo, being he was a buisness man, perhaps some exsist.
