Thanks, Carol, for the information. I, too, had searched the census records but unfortunately its that period between the 1920 and 1930 one that is in question. LA city directories cease listing Charles after 1923 and mortgage records list only Marie after June of 1923. I have been unable to find Charles in any California death records, nor Marie for that matter. Marie is listed as a widow in the 1927 city directory. Thanks again for your help.
