Does anyone know of any places in California that gold prospectors were still actively searching for gold in the early 1920s? I'm searching for my great grandfather's brother (Charles Schack) who family legend claims moved out to CA, telegramed back home that he had found gold and was never heard from again. Records indicate he and his wife lived in Los Angeles beginning in 1919. His wife continued living there until 1937 after which we dont know what happened to her but records for Charles end around 1923. I was under the impression that the big gold rush was done by then. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
