One of my ancestors, Allen E C Van Fleet drove a herd of cattle into Owens Valley, Inyo Co in 1861. His associate was Elisha Mallory. I believe this is mentioned in the book "The Story of Inyo" author Chalfant.The book is available through Amazon .com. I also had read somewhere that he was a freighter - hauling goods and produce between Owens Valley and the Nevada Gold fields. I corresponded with another researcher (descendent of Elisha) about this but I lost all of those email files when my computer crashed several months ago. I believe Elisha and Mary are buried in the Westline Street Cemetary near Bishop. The cemtary index is available online

Elisha Manuel Mallory born in Mallorytown Ontario Canada was married to more than one woman as was his father Lemuel who had 8 wives. His father, Lemuel had just one..amy Patterson. Brigham Young, himself, married elisha to Emma Maria Zundel. 15 Jun 1859 Salt Lake Emma died in 1926 and is buried at Willard Box Elder Utah.

I don't have a record of Rosetta, but that doesn't mean much.

Lemuel's father Lemuel drowned in the St Lawrence River as did his grandfather, Nathaniel Mallory who founded Mallorytown in 1790.

My GGGrandfater knew Van Fleet. Hired him to bring cattle
