My grandparents Theodore Ludwig Thuemler and Carlena Johanna Muessig married and had a large family. They lived in Del Norte County for many years. There is a Thuemler family reunion every June, at Valley of the Rogue Park in Rogue Valley, Oregon(this year on June 28, 1998). We are constantly working on the family tree, Theodore's family were in New York City, NY, he was place in a orphanage, when his mother and dad passed away at a young age, and his siblings could not take care of him. If you have any information please respond. Carlena's family were centralized in Aurora, Oregon, but we don't have anything farther back than Aurora. Question about Marriage License/Applications 1963

Is the public allowed access to these records for viewing? I have been hitting a brick wall with my aunt trying to locate a marriage license for her and I think I may have finally found it. However, I won't know for sure until I can find out the information listed on her marriage license application.

If so and someone is going to where these records are held would you mind looking one up for me and writing down what information you can so I can determine if in fact it is her before I purchase the document. I'd hate to waste my money on something that turns out not to be even someone related to me.

Anna Martina LEWIS was born 1839. Daniel Pennington Lewis was born 1832. Both were living in Crescent in 1900 census and only Anna/Annie in the 1910 census.

Daniel died in Elk Valley, Del Norte co. Dec. 16, 1905.
Anna was living in Crescent, with son, Edgar, in the 1910 census. I would like to find obituaries for both, and a death date for Anna. As she was 73 in the 1910 census, I believe she must have died between 1910 and 1920 - just guessing.

I have the following information regarding the descendants of George Washington Love and Caroline Amanda Rathbun Leigh:
Most of their children did not survive infancy except for two sons, Francis (Frank) B. Love and James C. Love and a daughter Mary who married John Estey and died from complications of childbirth when she was only 14.
Of the two brothers, Frank married Rose Morrel and according to the 1920 census of Beltrami, Pioneer they had one adopted daughter, Janie who was 12.
The other brother, James C. married Sophia Bresch in Hillman in 1896. In the 1910 census of Leigh, Morrison Co, MN they had 1 son, John C. "Jack" who was born in 1901 and died in 1937.
Jack married Florence Pugh and the following information comes from the 1930 census Rapidriver, Koochiching Co. MN:
John C. "Jack Love" was living in the household of Harold J. Pugh age 31, head of house who was single.
Lidia S. Pugh, mother age 62
Myrtle E. Pugh, sister age 17
John C. Love, brother-in-law age 29
Florence A. Love, sister age 26
Frank J. Love, nephew age 7
Ione Love, niece age 5
Hazle M. Love age 2 years 7 months
Jack L. Love, age 9 months.
From the Minnestoa birth index, three other siblings were found:
Baby boy Love, March 28, 1935 b. Lake of the Woods to Jack Love and Florence Ann Pugh. Note the use of the nickname "Jack."

We have information that James C. Love may have died in Del Norte Co., CA. and a Jack Love was living in that area at that time.
We are trying to contact members of this family since they are the descendants of our ggggrandfather, Clinton Love and his wife Mary Elizabeth Stalker.
We have volumes of information on this line of Loves and there are several of us who would love to contact these cousins.

Five days before Katrina hit Louisiana, a researcher, God bless her, contacted me as to the maybe whereabouts of a second cousin. His name was George W. Morton, whom I had been searching for since discovering he exisyted, that was 2001. I called the phone num ber she told me of and thank od it was him. We spoke over the telephone for nearly two hours. He had mentioned he had lived in Crescent City, which took me by surprise as once I had, too. Not the same period of years, though. Five days later he died as result of Katrina. This is a follow up to his and my talk, I would like to discover where in Crescent City he lived and for how long and lastly if his boys were there with him at the time?? Thanking all the readers for all their assistance in so many things. Regards to all.

LeRoy Hunt, was, a brother in law, he was married to my sister Pat. They split up about 1952-1953. He wanted children and she could not bare same, so she went her way and he his. I know that LeRoy had a half sister first name of Glenda, that was married to an Al and had two daughters. The girls were probably born about 1945-1947 and I recall, I believe I was told, they were born in or near Sacramento. Al, Glenda and LeRoy had an Infirmary just outside Crescent City, up until about 1952, that I know of. Do any of you readers know of or recall these people?? Thank you.

Icle Blanche Duncan is buried in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Crescent City. She died in 1959. I am wondering if someone could check and see if her husband, William E. Duncan (or Will) is buried in the same cemetery. I do not have a death date for him, but I'm thinking they could be buried together. Any help anyone could give would be appreciated. There are several "William Duncans" on the CA death index but I cannot tell which, if any, are him without a death date, and I hoped he had a headstone that gives a death date.

In 1860 one of my ancestors is listed in the Crescent Twp. census where he was living on a farm along with four other men born in Ireland, PA, VA, MO and OH. I'm interested to know what might have lured these men from such diverse and distant locations to Crescent Township.

These men were: David McNUTT, 29, b. Ireland; Felix SCOTT, 30, b. VA; Thomas LAWSON, 30, b. PA (Thomas belongs to my line); Francis MOUNT, 19, b. MO; John WATSON, 28, b. OH.

His death certificate lists the cause of death as "fractured skull in a runaway," so there may have been a news article about the accident even if there was no obituary.

I am searching for any info on Isaac Nichols and wife Cordelia Crismon. His obit says he was born in Baltimore, MD, came out west at an early age. He married twice in Oregon and once in CA. I have him born in a range from 1833-1834 depending on what document you read. I have his death certificate, two marriage certificates and many military affidavits. His death certificate states his father's name was Isaac Nichols but list his mother's name as unknown. He died 24 June 1928 in Myrtle Point, Coos, Oregon. Cordelia and Isaac married 28 Jun 1874 in Eureka, Humboldt, CA. He had one son, Fredrick from his second marriage. His first son, George, with Cordelia was born in 1974 in Humboldt county, CA. George is my great grandpa. From Humboldt county they moved to Smith River, Del Norte, CA and had 13 more children. I have copies of the census for Smith River from 1880 on. Cordelia Crismon was born in Maries county, MO 1 Jan 1855. She died 8 Mar 1931 in Myrtle Point, Coos, Oregon. I have her with her parents in Oregon in 1860 and 1870 census. In the 1880 census her parents were in Sutter county, CA census. She had an uncle, Archibald Crismon, in Oregon in the 1860 cenusus, he later moved to Humboldt county, CA. I would like any other info on this family if I can find it; I appreciate your help...Thanks

Leonard Sanders (b March 03, 1886 in Arkansas d April 10, 1958 in Crescent City) Leonard's wife, Ida Jane Keeling-Harper-Sanders (b. December 31, 1888 in Yell Co., Ark d. December 10, 1963 in Crescent City)

Ida had two sons from previous marriage to Denton Harper. Those sons were James Walter "Walt" Harper (b November 11, 1909 in Perry Co. Ark d. April 15, 2001 Central Point, OR) and Claude Harper (b. Dec 2,1911 in Arkansas d. March 26, 1994 in Humboldt Co., CA)

Leonard had a daughter named Laura from a previous marriage.

The family moved to Crescent City in the late 1920's or early 1930's. Walt built three homes on Olive Street in the early 1940's that are still standing today. Walt married Elma DeGauque in 1940. Eula Keeling and George E. Anderson were witnesses. They had two sons.

Claude married Gladys Cooper in ? They had a son and a daughter.

Ida Sanders brother, Aaron Walter Keeling lived in the same area around the same time. I believe that Eula Keeling may have been his daughter.

Charles Nelson and Johanna Grill. Who were their parents? Johanna came to CC to live with her uncle and his wife because her mother died. She and her sister came over, their brother Paul ran way before the shipped sailed.
Richard Hansen and Emily McNamara, Richard came from Denmark, on his way to Alaska he met Emily and decided to stay in CC, married her. She died in SF.

My ancestor, Stukely Sherman joined Co. A, 5th Regt. Calif. Inf., at Yreka, California in 1861. I'm looking for other descendents who had ancestors in this unit. Company A -- was enrolled at Yreka by Captain Joseph Smith. It was mustered into the United States service at Camp Union, October 2, 1861. It was sent to the southern part of the State in January, 1862, arriving at Fort Yuma during the month of February. During the month of March, 1862, it started for New Mexico, arriving at Tucson in July, and Fort Fillmore, N. M., in August. It was stationed at Fort Fillmore and Mesilla, six miles above, until January, 1863; then at Pinos Alts until March, 1863; then at Fort Stanton, N. M., to May, 1864. It then formed part of an expedition to the headwaters of the Gila River, and was stationed at Fort Goodwin, Arizona, until it was ordered in to be finally mustered out, which took place at Mesilla, N. M., November 30, 1864.

Del Norte Co.,CA. In reading "The History of Del Norte Co." by Esther Ruth Smith, I see 'Wilson Creek' on a map between Requa and Crescent City . Does anyone know the Wilson family that the creek was named for ? Also in the same book was the following sentence "Bear Wallow was named by the Wilson brothers at Big Flat". It is on page 95 of that book in an article written by Phil Stevens of the United States Forest Service in early 1900's. Does anyone know anything about the Wilson brothers mentioned in that sentence. Were they packers? If so, I do believe they might be connected to my ancestry, one of those missing links.

I was born Barbara Lynne Chase, dob 11/09/56. Known Brother, Terry Lee Chase, dob 9/9/55. We were both born at Seaside Hospital in Crecent City, CA to Vincent Chase and Carolee Barker. Vincent and Carolee were married in 1956 in Crecent City California at the Four Square Church. Vincent was about 18yrs older than Carolee. My Father worked in the Ship Ashore Resturant in Smith River, CA. But they resided accross the border in Brookings, OR at the time of my birth. They departed from each other in early 1958. By this time we were living in Fields Landing, CA. We had become wards of the State. Then our Father had gained custody of my brother Terry and I. He may have taken us up to Medford/Ashland/Talent, OR area where there were relatives. Then somehow we ended up in LA. My Birth Mom lost all contact with us in 1958. My Brother Terry and I were adopted to a wonderful family in 1960 and had a great life growing up. I have recently found my birth mom and older 1/2 sister(sharon). I am trying to locate obituaries for Maxe Reginald Heffley, born 2 January 1935, died 14 August 1997, and Eileen A. Heffley, born 21 March 1934, and died 15 August 2001. Social Security Death Index for Eileen A. Heffley indicates that her last residence was Crescent City, Del Norte County, CA. Both apparently died in CA, but were interred at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Yellville, AR.

Hello Im searching for a Joan White currently living with a W . Fields in Upstate Ny york. My husband had a child by her who moved out of her house when he was 16yrs old, tht was 5 yrs ago. Im trying to find the son Peter Careme, his father is ill and might not recover. Im also tying to find out why she has told dhr that the son has not been living with her when he moved out when he was 16 , I d just like to know what happened to all the child sport we where paying I want to make sure it went to my husband s son, and not to support all the other children she was havingby another man.
I know tis sound s could hearted but if she was claiming to have te boy living with her and he wasnt then she has gotten welfare money and childsupport that was not mentfor her. The child support money is supposed to help raise my hushband child , if he was not in the home then she usd the money for other things not what it was supposd to be for . thank you for any help with this matter

I am searchuing for where my oldest sister, Patricia Rose (may be using Elizabeth for middle name) Steele may be reasiding. She was born in Hawthorne, Cal;ifornia in August 1930. She lived in California in or about 1950, but I saw her in Long Beach, California in 1955. I have that deep rooted feeling that she is yet alive and has no idea where to look for missing family members. Ours was a disoriented family, sometimes this day and age referred to as disfunctional. Pat or Patsy used to have auburn hair, was full figured had a scar on one foot, caused by a scald. Her ex sister in law, brother in law and two nieces lived outside Crescent City in the latter part of the 1940s and into the early 1950s. I welcome any correspondence that may lead me to her or reverse.
