This such an old post, not sure if valid anymore. If interest is still alive, I might be able to help. My great grandfather was Patterson Stewart Taggart. One of his sons, my grandfather, was Willian Adelbert Taggart. Wm. died and is buried in Clay Co. Indiana. My mother always said he was a "woods cat". Nothing was ever said about his past. My cousin and later myself, have discovered quite a bit about him and his family. I can remember his half sister who lived in Ohio. I can also remember my mother visiting another women in Terre Haute, IN who I have since discovered was another half sister of my grandfather. Seems that Patterson got around.
