The photo was taken in Amador City in front of the 1st THOMAS General Store that burned down. I believe the store was on the far East side of Water Street, near the "Little Amador" Mine. The photo was labeled by my Grandmother, "Taken on porch of old store. Wm Hart, D.Rodda, ___ Gundry (lived behind Liz house), father with me in his arm. ? other man-- about 1889". Liz was my grandmother's older sister, Elizabeth Jane THOMAS SOWDEN. Josiah Gundry, I believe, is the only Gundry in area at the time, that would match the photo. Would you like a scanned copy of the photo?

I'm descended from Joseph H.THOMAS & Mary TREMBATH & have traced them back to Prospidnick & Crowntown in Sithney Parish, Cornwall. I know Josiah Gundry was in California by 1871, as he owned property in Amador City by then.- Roberta Richards Peeples CornwallConnections@Peeples.com
