Thomas Gartlin of Ione, Died 11/1919
LAST RITES FOR PIONEER
IONE (Amador County) November 15, 1919- Funeral services were held today over the remains of Justice of the Peace, Thomas Gartlin, who died at a hosptal in Sacramento, Wednesday, after a lingering illness.
Gartlin was a native of Massachusettes and 63 years of age. He came to California at an earyly age and settled in the Mt. Pleasant District of Amador County, where he engaged in mining. Later he took up farming and cattle raising. He served as a trustee of the Mr. Pleasant School, and was Justice of the Peace of Ione for a period of sixteen years.
The deceased is surviced by two daughters; Miss Alice Gartlin and Mrs. Loretta Ahston of Sacramento; two sisters, Mrs. Mary CAmpbell of Ione, Mrs. Alice Davis of Jackson, and a brother, John E Gartlin of Ione.
Deceased was a member of Court Ione, No 131 F of A. and I.O.O.F. Lodge No 51.
