About 1810 the widow Sarah Harris and her 5 children left the family plantation near New Hope, Lincoln County, Georgia and migrated to Fredricktown, Missouri. The family later relocated to NE Arkansas about 1820. They first lived in Lawrence and Independence Counties. Later, the 4 brothers settled in Izard and Stone Counties. All of the children were born in Georgia as follows: Henry B. Harris (1797), Elizabeth Harris Tinnin (1799), James Adams Harris (1801), and Augustus Watson Harris (1810). This family tree can be traced back to Virginia in the 1600's. Some allied families are Adams, Lewis, Woodson, Payne and Lee.

I belong to a group of descendants from the Harris family that has had 2 family reunions in NE Arkansas. We have been able to locate many of the descendants of Henry B. Harris, Elizabeth Harris Tinnin, and James Adams Harris. However, we are still searching for the descendants of Richard B. Harris and Augustus W. Harris. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who thinks they may have links to this pioneer family.
