What to know what happened to Erman W Dunkin b.abt 1877 and wife Laura b.abt 1881. They lived in DeView in 1920. By 1930, some of their kids lived with George Roberson and his wife Annie. The last child that is on the census is Ruth Dunkin born in 1921. So what ever happened to them was right after the 1920 census. Were they killed? And their children adopted out?? Are the any obits for them?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fred R Harrison Info

I am looking for information concerning the family and ancestors of Fred R Harrison. We believe he was born 16 Dec 1899 in Beebe, Arkansas; the son of James and Mollie Harrison. He had a twin sister Ruby Lee Harrison Reel. He grew up in Jefferson county, and his world war II draft registration lists his residence as Patterson, Woodruff county, Ar.

The birthdate of 16 Dec 1899 is based on the 1900 and 1910 census documents, later documents show their b-dates as 16 Dec 1896, including Fred's Draft registration card and Ruby's California Death Certificate.

Any information about Fred's family, their ancestors, or siblings would be appreciated.

Surnames "A"
Woodruff Co., AR
Contact:
Gary Telford
P. O. Box 282
Bald Knob, AR 72010
501-724-2490
wgt@centurytel.net

Obituaries, articles and weddings can reveal a wealth of information for people researching their family. It is one of the best sources available to genealogist. Old pictures are priceless. We spent four years gathering this information from old Woodruff County newspapers, preparing an index and filing all of it.
We are making every effort to preserve this all important Woodruff County history.

For the last four years, I have employed a lady to search through all the old newspapers of Woodruff Co., AR, to find obituaries, articles, weddings and pictures. Most of these have been copied on a Commercial Digital Copier and are very good quality. We now have a large sum of money and time invested in this project, which is still in progress.

All of these are copies of the original article, none have been typed and cannot be emailed. They will be sent by U. S. Postal Service.
All are copied on heavyweight, 28 lb., bright white, acid free, archive safe, paper.
The papers name and the date it was published will be on each item.
Any of these old "Original Newspaper Copies" would make a great addition in a "Family History Scrapbook."
Remember: "A Family Tree can wither if no one tends it's roots."
For more info. and a complete index on obits., weddings, pictures, and articles, see Parts 1-19 now posted on Woodruff County Website http://www.argenweb.net/woodruff/ or http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arwoodru/
Click on (Obits/Weddings)

For a complete list of the Family History Books now available go to http://www.argenweb.net/woodruff/ or http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arwoodru/ Click on (Family History Books)

Many other Woodruff County Obits., Articles & Weddings & Pictures, 1930--2009, are available that have not been posted yet--contact me.

(LPR)-----------Loose Probate Records Available
(Obit.)----------Obituary Available
(Picture Obit.) - Available
(Article)-------Available
(Picture Article) - Available
(Wedding Article) - Available
(Picture Wedding Article) - Available
(Marriage Certificate) - Copy Available
(Biog.)----------Biography - Article Available
(Civil War Record) - Available
(Enlist. rec.) - WW I enlistment record - Available
(Family History) - Available
(Family History Book) - Available

The following abbreviations have been used where space requires;
h/o--husband of
w/o--wife of
m/o--mother of
f/o--father of
d/o--daughter of
s/o--son of
b/o--brother of
sis. of--sister of

Abington - Senator "W.
You mean McCrory - I was in school in the 50's, in McCrory. There was McCrory Elementary School and McCrory High School. There were also several outlying community schools, which I don't have exact info on - at some point we went thru school consolidation, and they went by the wayside.

If your interested in the name "Key", I went to school for a while with Richard Key - any kin?

There was not an orphanage in McCrory, to my knowledge - I'm pretty sure I would have known about it.

Gloria Bronte Lane

Hello. If by chance you are in Arkansas, go to your nearest library genealogy room and check the Arkansas Death Index.
It covers from 1914-1948. Since Spencer registered for the draft, plus showed up in a couple of census, that means he should have been in that book. When you know the date of death, you can order his death certificate.
Woodruff county which is eastern Arkansas probably means he was working on a farm some place or something related to that.
Per chance you are interested in a researcher, I can suggest
a good one.
Good luck.

I think that you are looking for Rio Vista which is about 6 or 7 miles west of Augusta on Hwy 64 near Worden. It is located in White County. Many of the old folks pronounced it Ryvesti. Don't know about a Wells cemetery though

Shirley,

We updated the Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery in May of 2008 with all old and new burials through May 2008. I am keeping it updated from obituaries every week.
I have obits. for both George Washington Taylor, d. June 15, 1956, and his wife, Mrs. G. W. Taylor, d. Nov. 18, 1951. Both were buried in Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery, however the location is unknown. When Mrs. G. W. Taylor died her grandsons were the pallbearers, maybe they would know the location.

Gary Telford
P. O.
Thank you Gloria
I am just on a wild goose chase. I'm trying to find out anything on my dad's first family. He (Benny Key) was married to Mamie Morgan, they had 6 children that ended up being either placed with grandparents, or adopted thru the state. I have met and know all but one. So, I thought I could look into some school records to find out more about one of the older ones that would have been in school in McCrory in the early 50's. he has passed on, and I remember him coming to see us from time to time. He remainded in McCrory (Woodruff Co.) being raised by his grandmother Morgan. His name was Robert (Bobby) Wayne Key.
The name you mentioned (Richard) doesn't ring any bells at this time.
One of the girls remembered living in an old school house w/o electric or water. I have visited McCrory a few times, but never been able to find the area she was talking about.
Again, thank you for replying
Diann *nee: Key*
You probably need a local Arizona Latter Day Saints library, but you can also do some limited lookups at an online social security death index, at Rootsweb (actually ancestry.com). Beyond a basic search, they of course charge a fee, but have a good bit of info.

I went to http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ and did an "advanced" search -
and looked up Marcus Spencer (or M Spencer) birth 1874. No luck. Used a non-exact match (Soundex). I looked up J Spencer, birth 1903, and got 5 hits. But then you said about 1903. It's best that you go do the search yourself, online, or try the LDS library in your local area. Good luck!

Yes, I've already searched via ancestry - have tried the SSDI, the California Death Index (most of his family moved to Southern California). He is the mystery of his siblings. I've not been able to find him using ancestry, www.familysearch.org, or just ordinary Google searches. Which is why I reached out to this group, hoping that someone else might be researching him or might have access to local Arkansas resources.

Oh well....thanks for all the suggestions.

Betty
I'm trying to find a death date for Marcus Perry Spencer, and for his son, Julius H. Spencer. He registered for the WWI draft in Woodruff Co. He and his wife, Mary, and son Julius H., were in Woodruff Co. in the 1920 census. (They were in Green Co., AR in 1910). And then, they all drop out of sight. I've not found Marcus or Julius in the 1930 census yet.

Marcus was born 1 Apr 1874 in Angola, Steuben Co., Indiana. According to census records, he and Mary married about 1901. Their son, Julius H.was born about 1903 in Arkansas.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
And, since this is a side line for me, I'll probably not pursue a researcher, but thanks for that offer.

Perhaps someone on this list who is in Arkansas could check the Arkansas Death Index for me?

Thanks!
Betty
