My dad says there was a such a paper when he was growing up that was for the Black population. He is 90 and suffers from Alzheimer's but there is hope he will remember the name. If he does I will post back.

The following appeared in a newspaper.
Article on John C. Foster's death dated Aug,27,1915.

Foster was unarmed and was in his shirt sleeves aiding and strengthening the levee on the White River, when deputy sheriff James Hill rode up and demanded $85 which he alleged Foster owed him. Spectators say Foster denied owing him the money and that hot words were exchanged, after which Hill pulled an automatic revolver and fired. The bullet pierced Foster's heart and he fell dead. Hill then rode away and disappeared in the White River bottoms. Posse's are searching for him. Foster was contractor for the construction of the dump for the Cotton Plant and South Western Railroad which is being built from this place. funeral arrangements have been delayed pending the arrival of relatives from Greeley and Lincoln NE. Hill was at his home in the White River bottom, and the officer's seems perfectly satisfied to allow him to remain there. Hill was seen at McCelland Aug 24 and he sent a message to the deputy sheriff in cotton Plant telling the officer he could come and get him if he wished, but on account of the floods he said he preferred to remain with his family until the water subsided. Hill said he would come in and surrender as soon as the water begins to fall.
Hope this is what you needed. Posting this to message so others can find it.

Do you know which newspaper this article came from? It is about my great grandfather and I have been looking for the source of the article for a while. Are you related in some way to anyone in the article? Thank you, I appreciate it!

I currently work in Cotton Plant on a daily basis. I live in Augusta and I am currently searching for my family who first made their arrival around the McClelland and Gregory areas, early in the last century. There surname is Wilson and I have several posts in this section. If there is anything that I can do to help in your search, let me know. I know how hard it is to get information if you live so far away.

Thank you very much for your offer to help! This brick wall is hard to knock down from here in Arizona!

Are you ever in contact with the Arkansas Dept of Health for death certificates? I have a possibility for Jack FOSTER's death, but the date is one month off! I don't want to purchase a copy only to find it is not the right one. Is there any way for you to just look at them?

Here's the info:
Unknown FOSTER
DOD: 9/27/1915 (one month different than reported)
Volume 048
Cert 00085

Also, do you know of an Oak Grove Cemetery in the middle of Brinkley? I cannot find any info on line. If there is such a place, could you please give me the address?

Again, thank you in advance, and if you can't do or find anything, that's perfectly alright. It's been that way with me for a long time!

I have had dealings with the department of health on many death certificates and unfortunately there is no way to know if you have the right one. I would have to say that if the date is exactly a month off the odds are he is the right one. I was a year off with my great grand mother and she was the right one. Do you know what cemetary he may have been buried in?

Would you help locate a burial place or any information for my aunt that died while the family was living for a short time in Marianna Arkansas. Her name was MAUDE VIRGINIA COVEY B.MARCH 10,1894,MAURY CO.TN.D.AUGUST 29,1905,in Marianna, Arkansas. She died of what was known at that time as BRAIN FEVER. I don't think she has a stone but maybe there is a record of listed deaths. Thank you so much for any help.
Sincerely,
Mildred

My grandmother's name was Lillian Taylor, daughter of George and Virginia Taylor. Not sure if this is the person you are looking for.
