I found my gg-grandmother, Allie Fair (Spence) Flood listed in the 1900 Census, Wheeler Township. In Heritage Quest she is transcribed as Alberta, and it is very hard to read. I am wondering if someone can read it and see who is living with her. It looks like it is a daughter, but the last name I can't figure out, and the first name doesn't match up with what I have.

Looking for any Conner family who may live in Washington county. Their patriarch would have been S.G., or Sparrel Green Conner born 1857 patrick County Virginia. His father William B Conner, left Virginia with Sparrel and sister Alice and settled in Shannon Co, Missouri. Story is told that he left with his wagon full of moonshine and took a couple of his sons with him ( he had 15 children), stayed for a bit in Washington Co and then moved on to Hempstead where he died in 1945. Another story is that the sons stayed in Washington and there may be family there.

I am looking for the source of one particular article which contains his photo at age 100. This info can be seen on numerous family trees on Ancestry.com. The info is taken from pgs. 44-45 of this unknown publication. The title of article is "The Centenarian - Peter Mankin". The type is so small / blurry it cannot be copied. I can make out that it says it was a reprint from article done in Nov.1970 in the FLASHBACK ... whatever that was. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I am needing information on my great grandfather..NATHAN CURRY....he was married to MRS. LOUISA SHIPLEY..in 1881........ People around Durham knew them. They had a son named they called "BUD" CURRY ...I think his name was James. Bud died in December of 1948 around Christmas in a home fire in Fayettville. I have reason to believe NATHAN had a brother named JOHN CURRY. The reason is I found in a record book at the Washington County Courthouse, where Nathan & Louisa had applied for a marriage license and on the same day and signing right underneath their name was a John Curry. I've been told that Louisa was American Indian...she liked to go around with a blanket wrapped around her..go barefoot and smoke a corncob pipe. JAMES "BUD" CURRY ..married NANCY GIBSON...and they had children, WILLARD CURRY, JESSE "J.J." (RED) CURRY, CLAUDE CURRY, WILBERT CURRY, GLEN CURRY AND MAXINE CURRY... The Curry's made baskets, having learned the craft from the Gibson's....If you have any information please let me know.. Christopher "Lum" Gibson was married to Alice Brown ...from down around Van Buren or Alma...or Fort Smith. I have pictures of the Brown family..but most have no names on the back.

My gr gr grandmother was Naomi Laura Billingsley born in Washington County, AR, in 1821. There were several Billingsley families in the county in the 1820s. There were also several Woolseys living in Washington Co at the time. I believe that my gr gr grandfather, Josiah P. Woolsey lived with his family there, including two brothers Gilbert and James. It is possible they are the children of Samuel Woolsey and his wife Matilda. Any information on either of these two families would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Moved again to Nebraska and then returned to property called Hilltop Ranch in ARK. He was also a good auto mechanic. Was married to Vivian Blessing Snow, and raised her son, William Snow (my husband) who attended Fayetteville High School. They later divorced about 1955/1956.
HELP with Cemetery Location

I have sifted through all the Cemeteries of Washington Co. and also checked with the Fayetteville Library with no luck.
If anyone out there is from Arkansas and would like to help find this missing cemetery I would be so grateful. I am from Minnesota but my husbands family lived near Fayetteville, AR from the 1840's until his father left in 1920. His grandfather Mose Dunlap and wife Maude (Langham) Dunlap died there and are buried in the Goshen Cemetery.
I have two obituaries which state as follows:
(My husbands grgrgrandmother)Frances Dunlap died in June 1890 and is buried on the old homestead on the West Fork of the White River.
Her son Joseph P. Dunlap died Jan 1897 and is buried at the family burying ground a few miles southeast of the city of Fayetteville.
The closest I can get to finding the family burying ground is the property they owned in Township 16N Range 30W the southwest 1/4 which has the West Fork of the White River running through it. Just southeast of the city of Fayetteville on County Road 57.
There are other members of the Dunlap family who have died that are also missing: Millie (Jones) Dunlap the wife of Joseph P., James Dunlap d. Jan 1876 the son of Joseph P., Joseph Dunlap the nephew d. late 1870's, Mary (Gollaher) Dunlap wife of Joseph d. early 1880's, George Washington Dunlap and wife Matilda, Daniel McKeever husband of Mariah (Dunlap) McKeever. As I do more research the list just keeps growing.
Thank you in advance to anyone who could be of any help.
Mary Dunlap

When did Rebecca and William die? I cannot find Rebecca and William in the 1880 census.

There seems to be some confusion about the wife of Jesse Neal in the 1850/60 Federal Census of Washington Co, AR. In both census reports the wife is shown as Jane, but this actually refers to two different women. The 1850 census is showing Narcissa “Jane,” and the 1860 census refers to Amanda “Jane,” both of whom went by their middle names. Jesse married Narcissa “Jane” Atkinson on May 29, 1845 (Book A, page 3). After Narcissa apparently died, he married Amanda “Jane” Eaton on Sept. 25, 1859 (Book B, page 180). Both marriages took place in Washington County, AR.

Lewis is also mentioned on page 969 of the Washington County History Book published by the Shiloh Museum in 1989. A Samuel Lewis(1801-1863)is the earliest known Lewis, and the family is in the Vineyard Township on early Census records. They had 3 children in AR: John Joseph, Josephine Peninnah, and Benjamin Randolph. About 1865 they moved to Houston Co., TX. I would like any information concerning them or their families. I have descendents but would like ancestors.
Looking for more information about my Talkington relatives who lived in Cane Hill, Washington Co in the mid 1800s. Stephen and Sarah "Sally" (Acock) Talkington and their children, Edward P., Allen Acock, Margaret Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah Ann and Isaac Walton. Below is a quick summary of what I know about these households:

Stephen and Elizabeth moved to Van Buren in Crawford Co after 1850. They died there in 1859 and 1850 respectively.

Edward Talkington was married to Elizabeth Bland. Their children, born in Cane Hill, included Joseph, Mary Malissa, James Allen, Elizabeth Jane, Stephen Jasper, Sarah Ann, Joel Dyer, and John Wesley.

Allen Talkington married to Elizabeth Nichols. Their daughter Ethalinda and Georgie Ann were probably born in Washington Co. After a few years they moved to Crawford Co, AR and then to Collin Co, TX and Orange Co, CA.

Margaret Elizabeth Talkington married Thomas Lester, emigrating to Fresno Co, CA with many of their 12 children after the Civil War.

Mary Talkington married James n Sharp. They lived in Mountain Township in Washington Co, AR. in the 1850s with their children: Catherine, Eveline, Josephine, Harriet and John. Mary died between 1850-1852 and james Sharp married again, Lucinda Chandler.

Sarah Ann Talkington married joel Dyer (in 1837 in Washington Co). By 1850 they were living in Crawford Co, AR where they remained with their 13 children.

Isaac Walton Talkington was a minister and clerk of the court. He remained active in Washingotn Co (Cane Hilla College and Cane Hill Female Seminary) after moving to Crawford and Pope Co. He married three times and had 11 children.

My grandfather was George Washington REDMOND b 9/19/88 in Madison Co to ______ REDMOND and Nancy Paralee HILL, as far as I know they were unmarried. Nancy later married Moses GIBSON. It has been a big mystery to who George's real father was and we have wondered if he was Native American?? George's marriage cert. lists his name as REDMOND but he went by George GIBSON as an adult. They lived in the SW part of Madison Co, close to the Washington/Madison county line. The 1880 census shows the family in VALLEY TWP #17. Nancy's parents were William & Lucinda (TUCKER) HILL. Who was this REDMOND man? Was he from Washington Co? I would love to find the elusive Mr. REDMOND, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sherian

In looking at some WWII draft records I saw that a person's father was born in Raysville, Arkansas and in another record draft record for same person it has Rheasmill, Arkansas. This is for the same person, different locales (TX & NM) and dates - All other information lines up well. The question is where was or is this town? I don't know the state well enough to know what town may have been meant to be stated. It's apparent that the person's taking the information did the best they could in interpreting what was said. I tried several current day maps sources as well as the goverment site. Is it a town that is phoenetically close or did the town died out or get absorbed over time? Any ideas where this town may be? The family name was CRAWFORD.

I am looking for ancestors and descendants of my grandfather, John Milton Jackson b. Feb 1867 in either Kansas or Missouri. He married Minnie Francis Martin in Jan 1896 in Benton Co. AR. They had four children:
Lester D. Jackson b. 5 Aug 1898 in AR d. Feb 1975 in Springdale AR;
Willie Jackson b.14 Aug 1900 in AR d. Mar 1976 in Rogers AR;
Veda Pearl Jackson Coonfield b. 12 Dec 1904 in AR d. 4 Oct 1999 in Rogers AR
Herbert Milton Jackson (my dad) b. 7 Oct 1908 in Rogers AR d. Mar 1986 in KS buried in OK

Minnie Martin died around 1910. I would love to find out exactly when she died, what cause, and where she is buried.

John Milton Jackson's second marriage I had to piece together only from census data. From the 1920 and 1930 censuses I determined that he married Margarett A. Boady or Body between 1910 and 1920. She already had a son, Clarence, about 1910 father unknown. John and Margarett had two children: Zona b. abt. 1916 and Harvey b. abt. 1922

I am seeking any information I can find on all the names I have listed. I would very much like to get into contact with my Jackson relatives. Please contact me if you have anything on them or their families. I would find living relatives as well. Contact me at trwjackson@aol.com
Obituary for George Miller, died 1950, resident of Fayetteville

Hi everyone!!! Looking for the obit for the above-named person. He was born 02/21/1879 in Detroit (Redford Township), Michigan, to George W. and Charlotte (Gittins) Miller, the first of four boys. He left Michigan around 1907 or so and moved sometime before 1916 to Indiana, where he met and married Bessie Payton. They married in Indianapolis on January 12, 1916, and eventually made their way to Raytown, Missouri, where their first child, Leonard, was born in 1917. They had three other children along the way: Eileen, b. 1921, Margaret, b. 1923, and Ray, b. 1927, all in Oklahoma. George and Bessie eventually moved to Fayetteville to live out their years. But George became ill while visiting his daughter in Kansas and died in El Dorado, Kansas, on 03/17/1950. His body was returned to Fayetteville where he was interred in Fairhaven (?) Cemetery in Fayetteville. Would there be an obituary in the newspaper for Fayetteville or Washington County of appr 03/17 to 03/20/1950? I would be so grateful if anyone could provide me with that. I have a NEW e-mail address: iluv2laff@hotmail.com.

thanks again, Debbie Miller Holth
