Lowell- Larry Dean Thomas, age 60, of Lowell, passed away April 30, 2013. Larry was born April 5, 1953, in Weatherford, Texas, to parents Luther Thomas and Mary Ople Garrett.

He enjoyed his family and also riding the trains and seeing new places.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mary; and one son, Paul Charles "Chucky" Merideth.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Shawn Thomas of Centerton, AR, Joseph Lee Thomas of Fayetteville, AR and Mathew Wayne of Missouri; brothers, Finnie Albert Thomas of TX, Stanley Ray Thomas of Duncan, OK, Oran Luther Thomas of Combs, AR, Garry Thomas of Fayetteville, and Luther Thomas Jr of Fayetteville; sisters, Marybeth Scott of Crockett, TX, Linda Miles of Odessa, TX, Mildred Harris of Fayetteville, Nelda Jean Thomas of Odessa, TX, Thelma Todhunter of Cave Springs, AR; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives ad friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 pm Saturday, April 4, 2013, at the New Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the 7 Hills Homeless Shelter, PO Box 474, Fayetteville, AR 72702; or the Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762

Lyla had a love for horses and spending time in the garden.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman "Rusty" Knox; her parents; and her siblings.

Agnes Marie Bowman
Fayetteville- Agnes Marie Bowman, RN, 91, of Fayetteville died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville. Mrs. Bowman was born July 17, 1921, in Bentonville to Homer Dodds and Pearl Mullins Pack.

Mrs. Bowman was a graduate of Rogers High School. She continued her education by attending St. Edwards School of Nursing, graduating in 1944 as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Bowman first worked as a registered nurse for the Fayetteville city Hospital from 1945 to 1952 and then went to work for Springdale Memorial Hospital.

While working for Springdale Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Bowman assisted Dr. Stanley Applegate and Dr. Ed Wheat in establishing the hospital's first certified operating room.

She continued her career by becoming the operating room supervisor and then house supervisor until her retirement in 1989.

Mrs. Bowman was member of First Methodist Church of Springdale.

Mrs. Bowman had a positive impact on the lives of many people of Springdale and the surrounding area. She will be missed by all of her family, friends and a host of families who she helped.

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Tucker, who died in 1965.

She was also preceded in death by M. T. "Bo" Bowman, he husband, in 1990; two sons, Richard Tucker and Ronald Tucker; one granddaughter, Jayme Minchew; and two brothers, Homer Pack and Roscoe Pack.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith (Judy) Ann Fullington of Benton; one son, Tommy Tucker; one grandson, Jeff Martens of Harrison; three great-grandchildren, April Minchew, Jeremy Minchew and Tucker Lee Martens; two great-great-grandchildren, Jayden Minchew and Ashlyn Minchew.

Interment services were Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, AR.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10 am in the Convocation Center at Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville, AR.

Memorials may be made in Agnes' memory to Northwest Arkansas Community College, One College Drive, Bentonville, AR 72712; nursing program at Northwest Arkansas Vocational Technical School, 709 S. Old Missouri Road, Springdale, AR 72764; and the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing, 606 N Razorback Road, 1 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

He worked Chesebrough Ponds for over 20 years. He relocated from Connecticut to Bella Vista for further job opportunities and loved the beauty of Arkansas.

During his time here in Northwest Arkansas, he was employed by the Arkansas Democrat.

He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, Yankees baseball and especially loved his dog, Jeter.

He is survived by his wife, Regis Kennedy of Bella Vista, AR; son Christopher Allen of Clinton, CT; daughter, Danielle Allen of Milford, CT; two brothers, Thomas B Allen of Deep River, CT, Gregory Allen of New London, CT; sister, Debbie Allen of Hamden, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the loving wife of the late Clifford Richard. She enjoyed gardening and yard work.

Fern is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Parrish of Rogers, and Kathy and Lonnie Smith of Little Flock; sisters, Rose Enloe and Doris Woodruff, both of Missouri; grandchildren, Tina Thompson and Zac Smith; and great-grandson, Trevor Hall.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Meredith Girardier and Bonnie Dierking.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10 am in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Little Flock Cemetery.

Debbie is lovingly remembered by granddaughters, Shannon (Zack) Beal and Amber Payne; nieces, Marla Justice, Doris Ann (Steven) Stedronsky, and Becky Garcia; and nephews, Tony (Ginger) Justice and Joey Justice; two great-nieces, Anna and Maya Justice; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

She attended Fulton High School and was retired from insurance sales. She was active in the Benton County Republican Committee and was an active campaigner in several political campaigns.

The visitation will be held at the Hoggard Funeral Home, 142 N. Third Ave, Piggott, AR, on Thursday, May 2 at 1 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Hoggard Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm following the visitation. Interment at Mitchell Cemetery, Greenway, AR.

She loved reading, gardening and sewing. She worked for Dayco Products Inc. on assembly for many years.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Dennis Rockwell of Texarkana, AR, David Rockwell of Georgia, Daniel Rockwell of Missouri and Donald (Delia) Rockwell of Mount Judea; daughters, Ida Marie Hutcheson of Missouri, and Jennifer and Bryan Cook of Marion; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin brother, George Hacker; and son-in-law Jack Hutcheson.

Rogers- Martina (Nana) Peacock went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2013. Her life was a celebration of Jesus' love for all of us, and is she ever celebrating now!

Martina's passions were her love for Christ and sharing her faith; her beloved husband, Ronnie (buddy); her children, Daysha, Dane and Dru, and their families; her mother, Charlene Prock; her sister, Mona; and her brother Cam.

She also loved animals, especially all her dogs, decorating her house and all things about New York City.

She's famous for "stirring up some fun," putting on a show and the desire to "do it and do it bit!"

In life, Martina served wholeheartedly on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as well as a leader with Celebrate Recovery, and as a nationally-recognized cheer and pom coach. Her spiritual presence was a blessing for her family and friends; she was strong and positive while she was sick. Martina's example in suffering impacted countless lives and made those around her feel good.

In Heaven, you can be sure that nana is organizing the party and bossing the lower angels around- just like when she was here!

Joe was born in Avoca, AR, on Feb 20, 1954, a son of Fred Brown and Joree Ford Brown.

He married Deborah LaDean McGarrah on May 28, 1976. Joe was a minister, having pastored the Jesus Name Assembly for 35 years. Along with being a minister, Joe owned and operated the Joe Brown Insurance Agency in Springdale. He loved the Lord, his family and loved helping others. He enjoyed motorcycling with his wife Deborah, loved baseball and deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Brown, of the home; one son, Jeremy Brown of Lincoln, AR; three sisters, Carolyn Fields of Avoca, AR, Marilyn Burks of Lowell, AR, and Ruth Blackburn of Ojai, CA; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 10 am at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel. The Rev. Charles Hancock will officiate the services with burial being held at the Frisco Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

I am the GGg Granddaughter of William Henry Sherrod brother of Arthur Sherrod. I have just received his records from the Nationl Arcives hoping to find his parents names. I think his Grand father was William and his Grandmother was Keziah Holmes he was born in Northampton, N.C. Have you had any luck finding the ames of his parents? Moore's Chapel is one of the oldest funeral homes in Fayetteville and is still in operation today. The Gaskil's may have gone to the Methodist church in Farmington, still there today. The other church would have been the Christian church in Farmington and that is now the Nazarene church. I have a picture of R.C. Gaskil's brother, Albert.

I can help with the first question. R.C. Gaskill is Robert Commodore Gaskill (21 Sep 1881 - 2 Jul 1960). He was born on Texas, then the family moved back to Arkansas sometime before the 1900 Census.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Italian campaign.

I wanted to update my posts from several years ago - my grandmother, Rosemarie Reavis, passed in 2010. I learned that her sister, Ruth Reavis Tyner, had passed before her. Rosemarie still has brothers who are living in Texas. I have contacted them and a second cousin, as we never knew any of them existed. I am still, however, researching the Reavis family history. Looks like they came from VA/NC and some settled in TX. Rosemarie's father was Harve Reavis. Her mother was Minnie Ruth Wright. Any information is appreciated on both sides.

I just came across this query from 2002 about Martha Dutch King. Her son Garfield "Dick" was my grandfather. I too have been trying to find any info on her. If in the last 10 years you have come across any information I would love hearing from you or even if not I would love hearing from you. My mother used to tell me a story about her and her Uncle Harrison. I never met him but I did once meet Uncle Dock and Aunt Amy.

May be a different James Son. This one 1803-1880 and was married to Margaret Trotter 1814-abt 1880. But James could have had an earlier wife who died. They lived near Farmington and had several children, some also buried in the James Son Cemetery. The cemetery was in Prairie Township until 1880s and then was part of Center township. This area was later annexed to Fayetteville.

Fayetteville should have had Sanborn Insurance maps that would pinpoint the location if that is not something you have already done. If not in the library try Fayetteville Municipal Library. In fact, ask at the historical library and the municipal libraries if they have any records.

I'll go thru some books here to see if I can find some clues.

James Son died in July 1880. The Fayetteville library has one article listing the burials, written around 1980. The 1908 plat map (Center township) shows a location - very close to where I live, but I can not find any remnants of a small cemetery in that area. I thought maybe I was looking on the wrong side of the street or on the wrong lot.
