Hi, I was looking through the Union Co posts and saw your posting about Emma A. Harris Cole. I'm not sure where you got the marr. date for Emma and J.R.Cole, but acc. to the UNION COUNTY, ARKANSAS, MARRIAGE RECORDS VOLUME II, 1878 - 1899,
J.R.Cole,35,Lapile,UNION COUNTY, AR to Miss E.A. Harris, 27, Lapile, UNION COUNTY, AR. Married by M.P.Newsom 8 Jul 1883. Filed 14 Jul 1883. Recorded on page F-226. J.F.Gathright security.
You show a marr. date of 12 Mar 1883.
Also, if you want to get really technical (haha), Sweet Home Church isn't in Strong; it is several miles SE of Strong on Hwy 129, between Strong and Huttig. The original church is no longer there, just the cemetery, but there is a church where you turn off of the Hwy onto the county road leading to the cemetery. It is a Methodist Church ( can't think of the proper name of it at the moment), but it is called Sweet Home Church because the county road leading down to the cemetery is called Sweet Home Rd. I'm not sure how long that church has been in existence, but it is old.
I was also wondering if you have a John Quitman Burgess in your line? I have a copy of the history of Strong and a lot of it's original residents, compiled by Merle Knox in the late 1970's and one of the family histories is on a J.Q.Burgess. It mentions that he was the son of John C. Burgess and Martha Harris and that he was born in Meridian, Ms. When he came over to Strong, he lived with his Uncle Henry Harris before he marr.Josephine Howard. Since you mention that your Harris's were from Leake Co., Ms. and that is not to far from Meridian, Ms, I thought there might be some relationship.
If there is and you would like to have the rest of the Burgess history, let me know and I'd be glad to send it to you.
BTW, I'm not in any way related to any of these people. Just like to help out when I have time.
