Classification: Query
Surnames: Burgess Johnson
I recently subscribed to this listserv, in fact yesterday, and certainly did not expect to see my family history in one day! However, my Grandparents and Dad were so accurate with their verbal history that this was pretty simple actually.
I recognize some of the names because my Grandmother, Hattie, was fantastic about recordkeeping and made sure that we became DAR members. We are members out of Shreveport, La.
My Dad is James Johnson, son of Hattie Burgess Johnson and John Johnson. They lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, San Juan, all of their lives. My Dad recently passed away, April 20th, so my sister, Gail, and I are so interested in this since some of our history has been lost. Also, we are very sad, but this will make our day(s) so happy!
My Dad and his wife Marilyn Mallory (Dallas) lived in McAllen, Texas ( a few miles from San Juan) all of their lives. My Dad was a CPA/lawyer and had a very big firm for many years. He loved to talk about the relatives and history of the Burgess/Johnson family.
Actually, I am very interested in where my Grandfather's family is from. I know that they worked in paper mills or something like that near Strong, AR. The Johnson family was very big with many kids, and I do not know them at all. It would be so nice to communicate with them too!
If you folks are interested in communication, we would love to write.
Thanks so very much,
