I would be most interested in your findings as to whether your SAWYERS being researched might be kin to a COLUMBUS SAWYERS who was a boat captain who died at the Arkansas post about 1837.

My GT GT grandfather was DANIEL Y SAWYERS, bn SC, 1808, married either GA or Al. First child bn ILL. In MS by 1835 where he purchsed land in Tallihatchie cty, MS with Choctaw script. Daniel named a son COLUMBUS which has to be more than an idle coincidence!
